Okay, I've been pretty busy lately, and will be for the foreseeable future, but wanted to summarize some of this down and compile some links... First and most importantly: Here is Clydz martini menu -- super-sized martinis, before or after dinner... and the other night we could try one of the other great bars in town, and/or the Sports Bar in the Hyatt. We can be spontaneous here, as long as we hit Clydz once! Friday Night seems to include Harold's Deli (carpool to Edison) -- we enjoyed this last time, and I think it'd be a good stop for our out-of-towners who want to experience real deli food they can't get outside of NY/NJ. Where else could you try some of my tongue? If we go to Harold's for Friday night dinner, then it seems for Saturday night we're between Italian and Spanish food so far: Nova Terra seems like a wonderful Spanish restaurant with prix-fixe menus, but for the sake of selection and personal preferences, we'll likely order individually off the regular dinner menu. The Italian option so far seems like Panico's which looks great as well, and highly-acclaimed. As for Saturday activities, this day could be left open to whatever anyone wants to do: - Explore the New Brunswick area (shop, see a show, visit Rutgers, etc) [pdf]
- Visit the race track
- Visit the Corleone home on Staten Island
- Take the train into Manhattan/go on The Sopranos tour
- Relax at the hotel pool or fitness center
- Join Bogey for a burger at White Rose!
- Eat/drink all day at a fine local hotspot
- Anything else you wanna do!
If I missed anything, I'll update... Although we are still 6 months away, perhaps we should get an informal head count on which sounds good to most people. Of course, other ideas may pop up between now and then, but how are these options so far to everyone, and which would you prefer? I would add a poll here, but people have a habit of voting when they're not even planning to attend. So please state your preferences, even if you think you may attend...

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I'm not sure if we can make it Friday night, so if we can, we'll just go along with whatever everyone else has decided. As for Saturday, both restaurants sound great. We eat so much Italian, both at home and out, I think I would prefer Nova Terra. As for the Saturday activity, I am somewhat disappointed to see no mention of the shoe store James told us about.
I love the idea of going into Manhattan on Saturday, but why limit it to the Sopranos tour? If the weather's nice, what about the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island? I guess it depends WHERE the train goes. If it's midtown, then that's sort of tough to do, unless we all hop on the subway.

Friday at Harold's sounds good to me. And the hotel bar/lounge will be just fine for the evening. As for Saturday's afternoon activities, I'll probably lean towards going to the track. But it's still a ways of, so I'll play it by ear until then. Nova Terra is my first choice for dinner on Saturday night as I love good spanish food. However if it turns out that the majority of those who are going would rather go to Panico's for italian food, I wouldn't mind that either. And of course we'll hit Clydz before dinner! Glad that you posted all these options Geoff, because it would really be great if we could get some input from those who are definitely coming and those who are leaning towards coming. C'mon people, don't be shy, state your preferences! Don Cardi

But I'm confused, why would you want to go back home for? I would like to go see NY and see the sights. I would like to take a ride on the subway. The Soprano tour sounds like fun. We'll see though. I'll have to talk it over with Becky and see what she wants to do. The only thing I don't like is some will do this and some will do that. Isn't the point of this weekend spending time together other than dinner? How nice would it be to get a group pic in front of my house in Staten Island? Like we got a group pic in front of the Moshulu last year.

I'm not sure if we can make it Friday night, so if we can, we'll just go along with whatever everyone else has decided. Sorry, how could I have overlooked Clydz and their martinis?! What was I thinking?? Geoff, let's be practical here. I think that it would be better to go to Clydz on friday instead of saturday. At least everyone who is making a real effort to come on friday will be together at the hotel and it will be easier for us just to go to Clydz before Harold's. Where as on Saturday many will be doing different activities during the day like going to manhattan and therefore it might be a bit difficult to get everyone together in time to go to Clydz before dinner. And being that someone said that IF they make it on friday night, they'll "just go along with what everyone else has decided," it really shouldn't be a probelm! Outback! I'll join ya at the track. Outback? Hmmmm. I hear that the Outback near Monmouth Race Track has said that they use "Smokestack" brand meats now! Don Cardi

SC and DC, Please don't kill a horse this time around!! Stop beating a dead horse already. The only thing I don't like is some will do this and some will do that. Isn't the point of this weekend spending time together other than dinner?
Just like on the boards, we all have different agendas. We shouldn't have to feel that its all or nothing. The fact that we'll be together for dinner and drinks is good for me. Plus, it'll make dinner conversation fun comparing notes of what we did during the day.

Does NY still have that double decker bus? I think they did away with that a few years ago (after a few accidents).

Does NY still have that double decker bus? I think they did away with that a few years ago (after a few accidents). SC is correct. They did do away with it a few years back due to several accidents. They were having problems getting insurance for their buses. However, I believe that they recently started running them again because they were able to solve their insurance problems. GRAY LINE NEW YORK CITY SIGHTSEEING TOURS There is also a NEW YORK CITY MOVIE AND TELEVISION SITES TOUR which has a 3 and a 1/2 hour tour going on Saturday August 18th which starts at 11:00AM.
