Funniest bits:

-When Fanucci steps up onto Vito's car: "Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"

-"He wants to talk. You imagine da nerve on that sonofabitch?"

-Horse head scene. "Ahhhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhh! Ahhhhhhh!!!!"

-"Of course, the dog stays, right?"

-Any scene with Sofia Coppola is cringlingly funny.

The scene that always cracks me up is the flashback in GF II, when Sonny and Micheal start to fight , and one of Sonny's daughters says "Mommy, daddy is fighting again. And the conversation between Tom and Woltz always gets me.

I just love it when Sonny bites his fist after seeing Connie's face. I can't imagine being so angry that I had to bite my own fist :-)

This is definately a James Caan bad habit. I figured this out about a year ago when I saw him do it another movie. As soon as he did it I thought back to that GF scene--the expressions were equal as well as identical

Hey, I'm new to the board also...

I can't believe no one mentioned Senator Geary stumbling through Anthony's name. I thought that was pretty funny. Also Luca Brasi practicing what he would say to Vito, then messing up in the end: "Don Corleone. I am honored... and grateful... that you have invited me to your daughter's wedding......... on the day of your daughter's wedding..." That always cracks me up.

I also think it's amusing during the christening scene, the way organ music and Michael's professing to renounce the devil provide the background for a montage of bloody murders.

How about the cutting of Roth's cake in GFII? Watch as Michael's assistant realizes he is not dressed appropriately for the hot Cuban climate. Very funny and often times overlooked.

Buschetta removes his hat, looks at the bird droppings on it, and then looks up at the sky. (I never realized exactly what had happened until it was pointed out by Turnbull in another thread).

Is that what you are referring to?

Did not realize it was bird droppings,, that is even funnier. I always assumed it was just too damn hot since he took off his black jacket and hat.

1)The scene where Michael, Vincent and Connie are discussing about the attack on Vincent in his apartment.

Connie: "Michael, now they'll fear you"
Michael: "Maybe, they should fear you"

2)The look on Zasa's face when some Don gets a cheque of "50 million dollars!" and the other Don's are talking about the cheques they got.

3) Atlantic City Massacre
- When the light of the helicopter shines on Michael's face.
- When Vincent picks someone up and uses them as a shield.
- When the man in the purple suit gets shot and falls back to the wall and I can't believe people are actually have their guns out, rather than trying to escape, its almost impossible to hit the helicoptor from there with those small guns.

I would have to say in the Carlo beat down scene when Sonny when Sonny gives Carlo a few good whacks with his own shoe. That's a classic.

I love this topic! Many of my favs. have already been mentioned. I think anything w/Frankie is funny. Mainly, though, the Tarantella part...cracks me up everytime! I also like the part where he's talking to Fredo about the can o' peas...and the way he says "he's got me waiting in a lobby" in reference to Michael is just hilarious! One that never fails to make me and my dad laugh, is the way Senator Geary says Michael's name in this one scene...anyway! Basically, I just agree w/all everyone else has said. These are all funny parts, and it's good to know I'm not the only one laughing at these... blush lol

I was going to start a new topic, but figured it actually sorta fit in better w/this one already. I just wanted to mention any funny references to the GF on TV or other movies, etc, and see if anyone else knew of some..? Two that I can think of right now are: (sorry if these aren't quoted right, I just tried to get the general idea)

1) You've Got Mail- Tom Hanks who plays Meg Ryan's internet love interest tells her something about how you can learn a lot from the GF, and begins to quote different parts, such as the famous cannoli one, the Appolonia mun-dah, tues-dah, thus-duh...etc., going to the mattresses, and more...if I remember right, I think he even reads it aloud in a sorta Brando style! I just thought that was a great part of that movie, considering my love for both Tom Hanks, and of course, the GF!

2) I remember an episode of Seinfeld in which Jerry was talking about Newman...saying something about how he lives right near his home, or something...sorry, I have a terrible memory...but he goes on to make Michael's "In My Home!!" quote, only to change "where my children come to play with their toys," to "where I come..." lol

Anyways, just thought I'd share those, since they're laughs associated w/the GF! grin

I don't think anyone mentioned this, but it's
so funny. When Woltz calls Hagen a wop, Hagen corrects him by telling Woltz he's German-Irish, and without missing a deat, Wolts shoots back with "Listen, my Kraut-Mick friend".

What have I done that you would
treat me so disrepectfully?

I like the part with Frankie and the band playing "Pop Goes the Weasel". I also like the one scene with Fanucci when Vito is driving the car, and he (Fanucci) jumps on out of nowhere and goes "Eyyyy...."

Oh yeah! Good one! I kept thinking of that one while I was reading these, and never remembered long enough to put it! lol My mom and I were just joking about that today, actually! We were trying to figure out what I would be, because other than 1/2 Italian, I'm also German, Irish, and a couple of others...lol So I'd be Kraut-Mick-Guinea/etc...lol

I Have One Of My Favourites Which Was Not Posted Before, In GFIII In The Party After Don Michael Gets The St.Sebastian Award... When Johnie Fontane Want To Sing : And I have something special for our host and Godfather: I just happen to know his favorite song. Michael, where you going? It’s your favorite song!

Uh, I’m off here to the kitchen to hear some Tony Bennett records.

Hehehe Thats One Of My Favourites

Great thread!

A few from GFIII which I don't think have been mentioned yet:

1. The Ant mimicing a trombone when the music stops after Zasa's arrival at the party.

2. Kay saying to Michael in Sicily, "Is that supposed to make me not dread you?"

3. My personal favorite, when Vincent tells Lucy, "They put me in a room with Joey Zasa -- what's gonna happen. I bit the guy's ear off." As if it was totally obvious that that was going to happen.

I think the funniest moments involve Fredo:

1. At Connie's wedding, a tipsy Fredo sort of introduces Michael to Kay after Michael introduces her to Fredo.

2. His little corny entrance dance into the hotel room in Vegas as the band plays.

3. "I like Havana. Havana's my kind of town. Do we know anyone in Havana?"

4. Congratulating Michael for joining the service.

and, of course,

5. "I'm smart. Not dumb, like everybody says."

I like the whole scene leading up to Joey Zasa's assassination...Joey eating a salsice and going on about how wonderful Italian Americans are...he says The man who invented the telephone was Italian, and the man who played him in the moivie was Italian...then when the guy is keying the car he says "This is what gives Italian Americans a bad name."

"Io sono stanco, sono imbigliato, and I wan't everyone here to know, there ain't gonna be no trouble from me..Don Corleone..Cicc' a port!"

You're right, that scene was funny.

Vincent's guy asking Zasa, "Who's gonna win the car, your aunt?" was classic.

As was Vincent saying "Zasa!" after he kills Joey.

Uh, I hate to disillusion you, LW, but what he said was not "your aunt," but "the Ant," as in Zasa's bodyguard.

Well, in that case I'll have to downgrade it from classic to mildly amusing.

Also, when Willie goes, "yeah, buffas" in the Senate hearings. Great stuff.

There is all sorts of subtle humor, such as in I, when Michael explains to Kay how "Luca Brasi held a gun to his head and my father calmly explained that either his brains or his signature would appear on that piece of paper." The look Kay gives him back is priceless.

I love Clemenza dancing at the wedding like some kind of drunken Michael Flatley, and then guzzling down the entire bowl of wine.

Sandra Corleone impressing her friends by describing the size of Sonny's prodigious organ.
"Luca Brasi held a gun to his head and my father calmly explained that either his brains or his signature would appear on that piece of paper." Yeah, I like that part too! The way her facial expression changes is very amusing. lol

But if Clemenza can figure a way to have a weapon planted there for me then I'll kill 'em both.
