They left ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA out of the box set ? That's odd, considering it was practically Leone's life's work.

Pizzaboy, Warner Bros. owns the video rights to ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, while MGM(or actually, SONY corporation) owns the rights to the Man with No Name trilogy.

Thanks Ronnie, I figured it was something like that. DC and I had been messaging each other quite a bit about ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, so I recently picked up the special edition dvd.

They did a great job. If you get the chance to pick it up, you should. You'll understand how that movie really drove Leone for over 20 years. I highly recommend it.

Here is my question about such Director's Cuts...how many are legitely the director's actual always prefered edit, or simply the existing version simply given more filler footage?

Speaking of DCs, William Friedkin's CRUISING with Al Pacino will get restored. Nice.

pizzaboy, did you pick up The Natural today? I got the gift set from Best Buy and it's SWEET. You get the Director's Cut DVD (again with an additional 15 minutes), plus a replica Roy Hobbs "autographed" baseball, a New York Knights baseball cap, and 5 New York Knights baseball cards. The DVD by itself is $19.99 and the gift set is only $22.99. I figure why not spend the extra $3?

I got The Natural and Black Christmas. Nothing really "great" out yet. But remember, if you wanted The Natural Gift Set, it's only available at Best Buy.

I'm stuck back home with the family for a couple days, so I bought a movie to keep me entertained. (I also got a HBK shirt, Austin shirt, and a Wolverine hoodie.. but that is neither here nor there.)

Good flick bogey. I watched it last year when it came out and bought it. It was a lot better than I expected it to be.

Warner has announced some major new releases today as well, including the Letters from Iwo Jima: Special Edition (on 2-disc DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray - both single disc - on 5/22)




I hope that they have a feature on the dvd that will allow one to watch in English and not english subtitles.

What a disservice. You might as well eat your popcorn with piss in it.

Seriously, what is the problem that some people have with subtitles?

I'm sure it will. A lot of the foreign movies I own are dubbed like Hero, House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower. I'm sure they will, I'd be surprised if they didn't.

I bought Pulp Fiction, Snatch, and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels today. Yaaayyyy.

I love SNATCH. Well, that didn't come out right, but it's a great movie anyway.

Dennis Farina was great as Cousin Avi. Guy Ritchie was accused of ripping off LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, his own movie, for God's sake, but I don't look at it like that. It stands on it's own two feet.

Yeah, me too. They're both great movies. I don't see how you can rip off yourself, though. You can definitely tell they're by the same guy, but they're two totally different films.

SNATCH is as much of a "ripoff" of LOCK/STOCK as CASINO is to GOODFELLAS.
