2007 Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball (Live Draft)

http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/gangsterbb

ID# 163137 (added by DB... hope you don't mind, JG ;\) )
Passw: Corleone

-----

I've created the league, and it kept all settings from last year. When I get some time I'll review those settings and post them here. I've set a tentative Live Draft date of Wednesday, March 28, at 8PM ET. This can be changed if it's not convenient for everyone, or if it's too close to the start of the season (Apr 1), but I thought it was a good starting point since that is Plaw's birthday. ;\)

Those who can dedicate 6 months of active play are encourage to join. If you can't commit, then please don't sign up. There's nothing worse than someone drafting players that later become unavailable because someone dropped out. Of course, unforeseen things happen which is understandable, but please only play if you're serious. Please also note there is a limit of 12 teams in this league at this time.

While I'm probably unavailable the the 28th, I don't want to disrupt any schedules. Is there a way to do a preranking of players and have your picks automatically made for you.

If not, I think I can have my son pick for me. He'd do a better job than I anyway.

I'm not signed up yet, but in every Yahoo draft I've been in, you can pre-rank your players.

My suggestion is to let your son do it.

JG, can you please put the League ID# on your initial post? The link that you provided brought me to:

• You are not allowed to view this page because you are not in this league. (Error #152)

You need the ID# to join the league. Thanks.

I'm not playing but I like the draft date. I always thought it should be as close to opening day as possible, that gives you more time to see who gets injured. Is a Pujols that is out half the year still one of the top picks?

5 DL spots seems to be a lot of spots.....if you have 5 superstars all on the DL you should have to take a hit until they get back.

Just my non-playing (for now) 2 cents.

For someone who's not interesting in playing this year, you sure have a lot of opinions about how the league should be set up!

Welcome to the game, PB (you find that everyone gets a two letter nickname in the fantasy sports threads )

Your odds remind me of Plaw doing odds every year for all the players. It was always so funny when he gave himself the best odds of winning. If he wasn't doing well, his justification was that he's due.

Thanks, DC. That's very high praise, so in that case :

I cannot take credit where credit is due. It was Don Sicilia who afforded you such high praise. And my Brooklyn Bums are not in this league. That's my team over in the other one that we are both in. My team in this league is The New York Knights.

I see that you used The Pizza Boys as your team name in both leagues though.

Well, I tend to drink alot more during baseball season, and it's just easier for me to remember one name.

Yahoo said it imported last year's setup, tho I haven't looked at it closely enough yet - considering I wasn't manager last year, maybe it just went by the name of the league? But in any event - if you have 5 "superstars" on the DL, you will take a hit because they won't be playing.

True but a 5 person DL will greatly impact the free agent pool.

I think 3 is enough, or maybe a gentleman's agreement to 3 players and 2 pitchers?

I don't agree that a DL spot(s) should be limited to certain positions.

I thought that we strive to make play here as realistic as possible. Imagine MLB telling a BB team that they can only put 2 pitchers on the DL? C'mon now DMC.

Stick to what you know ; Restaurants, Hotels and Older Woman!

I just scanned the first 5 pages of last year's thread and there was no mention of the DL until the end of Page 4, where you didn't seem to have a problem with the number. (Man, this is when I really miss Plaw...)

But don't you think that 5 spots is a little much? I'm used to having 2 spots for DL. The reason I said 3 and 2 is because it would help the free agent pool. If someone has 5 pos players on the DL thats going to weaken the pool.

If we keep it as real as possible I say 3 DL spots.

If there's one thing I know, it's older women

It's okay though, I know you can call me out on the boards, but come August......
