Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton and Abe Vigoda have all been signed to portray characters (but not their original roles).

Its expected that the remake will open in theaters in mid 2009.

I can't believe they're doing this! God, can't these filmmakers have an original idea at some point? They'll ruin it.

I'd be all for it if Ron "The Da Vinci Fucking Code" Howard wasn't directing, as Variety reports.

Edit that, Beth. Some may not be receptive about the spoiler regarding the new twist ending planned for this version.

Yeah, Michael Bay should produce the GODFATHER remake. Screw all that acting and drama....people want explosions.

Right my adversary?

I was leaning more towards Uwe Boll. Instead of actually remaking the original film...he could do a film adaptation of the VIDEO GAME version.

Since..you know...his films based on video games are so fricken' awesome.

Hey XD, guess who I am:

"Yeah yeah GODFATHER should like be remade by Quentin Tarantino, since he's the greatest thing since Jesus and sliced bread, and have like random-ass pop culture references from the 1970s to Z-movies that nobody cares about....and have Sam Jackson as the Godfather!"

Want a clue? There is no surprise I didn't invite him to my birthday party this year.

How about John Travolta as the Duvall part?

Screw great acting, we need a REAL ITalian...a washed-up Italian movie star that's loony religious cult leading....for Tom Hagen!

For some reason, I've never looked at Travolta as one of the Italian-American actors, even though he is. Maybe because, other than Saturday Night Fever, he hasn't played many Italian-American parts.

Nic Cage as Michael, defffffinitely.

At the end, as the organ kicks in from the baptism scene, we see him in great contemplation, then...

I still remember when in the 80s, Travolta was always rumored to be involved with GODFATHER PART III.

What I always find funny is, Andy Garcia. Cuban-native who ends up playing Italians in many movies. Eh?

Better than Sean Connery playing an Irish-American cop alongside him, though, eh?

Personally, I can't wait for this to open. You know what I would love to see? Sofia as Connie! She was sort of whiny in GF3 and I think that Connie was a tad whiny, so it would be perfect!!
