My favorite is The Robe. The actor who plays Caligula gives one of the best performances I've ever seen. I also like its sequel: Demetrius and the Gladiator.

What about TEN COMMANDMENTS?

Moses saves the Jews from Egypt...and he's repayed with alzheimers.

God aint exactly the best sort of Godfather when it comes to repaying favors, you know?

I don't think I've ever seen or even heard of an "Easter film" before.

Or, not so much "haven't heard" as it is, I never really consciously acknowledged they were "Easter films". Probably because society and pop culture doesn't put nearly as much emphasis on Easter as it does Christmas.

My Sweet Chocolate Jesus.

Basically, a really expressive homage to the Blaxploitation flicks of the 70s.

Excellent movie Olivant. One of my favorite Easter movies along with King of Kings.

The actor who played Caligula also played a role in a Star Trek TV episode.

I believe that The Robe was the first movie to introduce Cinemascope.

The actor that you are thinking about is Jay Robinson. I can hear that annoying voice as I type this! He was excellent in the movie.

I suppose you are very much so right. I guess, as stated earlier, I just never thought to view it as an Easter film based on the lack of cultural emphasis on Easter in comparison to other Christian holidays, like Christmas (even though Easter is more important, in my opinion).

The Passover and Easter celebrations sometimes overlap each other or take place very close to each other. And that is why you get a mixture of movies that are shown at this time of year like The Ten Commandments, The Robe, Ben-Hur, King of Kings, etc.

I haven't seen Zeffirelli's JESUS OF NAZARETH in quite some time. I'm hoping to find it on television this week. I think it's one of the better depictions of the life of Christ.

I agree PB. Jesus Of Nazareth is the one movie made about the life of Jesus that remains the most faithful to the holy scriptures.

I love THE TEN COMMANDMENTS but you gotta admit, the casting was hysterical. Edward G. Robinson, with his gangster accent ? Classic! All that was missing was Cagney saying "you dirty rat" to the burning bush.

I believe that Edward G.'s character, Dathan, was meant to represent the devil who was trying to plant seeds of doubt in the minds of those who were following God through Moses.

What a classic movie. A real blockbuster.

If its the most faithful...does that make it the best Jesus movie?

Sorry, but the best Jesus movie is owned by The Man.....Marty Scorsese. ;\)
