Good point, SC! That's the difference between a recession and a depression. In a recession, your neighbor is out of work. It officially becomes a depression when you're out of work.

Since we are speaking randomly, I think those of us living in certain states, don't quite realize how bad it can be in another.

When I spoke to my family in Michigan last week, they were saying how so many GM/Ford plants were either laying off or shutting down and that many workers are out of work. It does make me feel fortunate that I'm at least employed, because yes, the alternative would suck.

It certainly does, TIS. My husband was laid off in the 1990's from a manufacturing job, went back to school and started all over again in IT. He felt that manufacturing in the Northeast was a dead career because all of the manufacturing was being sent overseas for cheaper labor. Guess what? After going back to school for his master's, starting all over again in a new career, working his way up from the bottom, many IT jobs are being sent overseas for cheaper labor!!!

Do you know how many companies I have to call at work and the person on the other end is in India? They just get paid to answer the phones and basically take messages. They're no help to me whatsoever.

Well, Mr. Babe started out in tech support for Prodigy, and those jobs are long gone, as is the company. He worked his way into Network Management, and now those jobs are being outsourced as well. It's just unbelievable how we've just handed the keys to the kingdom over to these other countries.

You know what's awesome? It's 11 a.m. and I'm already off work.

To be taught by Reyna is to be patronised and bored and insulted.
