Nah, no pre-fix. With a menu selection like that, to me a pre-fix defeats the whole purpose of our considering changing over to this restaurant.

Let's see how Don Malta, SC, XDCX, Signor Vitelli, OWTGF, DMC, DonTomasso and Sicilian Babe feel about possibly changing restuarants.

I have no problem not going to Nova Terra -- I can go anytime if I wanted to. Sir John's looks great, but with all the fine restaurants within walking distance, perhaps we could look into those as well... ;\)

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! tongue lol

Don't see why not.

There's

PANICO'S

Catherine Lombardi's

La Fontana

Old Man Rafferty's

Do you know of any other restaurants in the area that you could recommend?

My cousin lives in Long Branch but his office is in New Brunswick and he swears by Old Man Rafferty's, as a pub and a restaurant. Maybe we could get our breakfast beers there, seeing that it's in walking distance. I think that's a responsible statement on my part.

No need to leave the hotel for breakfast beers. Just walk on over to Geoff's room!

Quail, Bok Choy, Rabbit.

To be honest with you DMC, the menu is not really that appealing to me.

Personally I'm favoring Sir John's, Nova Terra or Old Man Rafferty's.

As said, I will go along with the majority. I have no problem with any of the places mentioned, but Old Man Rafferty's sounds more like a pub than a restaurant (not that there's anything wrong with that). If we want a dining experience, then I don't know if I'd put it on the short list. However, please let me stress again that I will be happy to eat wherever you all want.

I did email the hotel, and they do not supply a shuttle, but do work with companies that do, in case we're worried about having a few and then driving home.

Old Man Rafferty's is much more of a lunch than a dinner place. I go there at least once a week and I still haven't really found anything that I liked......their beer on the other hand (reason I go every week)

I really don't see that we should start having to hire shuttles just to go out for dinner. So I have to agree with Geoff that we'd be better off staying within walking distance of the hotel.

I believe that in addition to Nova Terra, the places that I listed above are all within walking distance of the hotel.

If Old Man Rafferty's is more of a pub than a restaurant, then I'll lean towards Nova Terra or Panico's. Unless of course Geoff happens to know of some other places in the area.

All I know is I just read the Panico's dinner menu.

Broccoli rabe, hot sausage, hot cherry peppers, olive oil and garlic.

Need I say more ?

Let me see if I am on the same page as you guys. You are willing to drive 15 minutes to Harold's but not Sir Johns I know nothing is set but I'm just wondering what's the difference

All I know is that I want to BEGIN the evening at Clydz with a big old martini. I was dreaming about paella, but whatever everyone is happy with is good for me.

I think there is going to be a little bit more drinking Saturday Night than Friday Night (at the restaurant), so a 15 minute ride through New Brunswick being a little tipsy is not the best thing to do.

PB, you have a good point. Mix a few drinks with unfamiliar roads, and you have a recipe for potential disaster, especially if those Clydz martinis live up to their reputation.

If the final decision is Sir Johns because we all actually LIKE it, then transportation shouldn't be the issue. However, one of the reasons that we picked New Brunswick was the abundance of restaurants within walking distance. If that was the reason, then perhaps we should reconsider the ones that are. Personally, of all the ones listed as such, Nova Terra is still my personal favorite, but I'm OK with whatever the group decides.

Sorry I've been a little quiet lately - been having periodic computer trouble with sites not opening properly or loading forever and freezing up.

I'm in favor of staying withing walking distance, basically. Or, a short cab ride. It seems like that still gives us some good restaurants to choose from.

I'll admit, though, when I read that menu that was posted earlier, I was intrigued by that dish called Chicken Tarantino - I had images of the waiter serving it out of the barrel of a shotgun. (I think I've seen too many movies...)

"No. Saints and poets, maybe... they do some."

But it's so much fun to debate the merits of each and every menu, which I assure you we will do! I love to talk about food (didn't know if you guys have ever noticed), so reading and discussing these menus is fun for me.
