That's why I don't watch the behind-the-scene extras on dvd, or read many interviews with Hollywood folk because it just makes me frustrated when they say and do things that are so out of touch with reality most of the time. But I have to say that those same out-of-touch people make some pretty good, entertaining movies. I think everyone would agree that Rodriguez would be nothing without Tarantino, but because they have continued to work together, they have produced (in the literal definition, not the Hollywood title) some pretty cool movies. I happen to like the Rodriguez movies I've seen, even if Tarantino is hovering over him while he makes the movies. Tarantino should hover around more movie sets as far as I'm concerned. It would make for better movies. My point is I guess, is that Planet Terror could have been something else or something better, but what we got instead was still very entertaining. I am looking forward to watching it a second time now that I know what it is, and appreciate it for what it is. Tarantino still rules though

It might have been, I don't know, but The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is genuinely a fantastic film; one of the best I've ever seen. Agreed, one of the scariest and most disturbing movies I've ever seen. Something about the low quality filming and sound that made me feel uncomfortable while watching it. I need to watch it again actually, it's been quite some time. I saw it listed as a "Top 10 Grind House Movies to See" in the newspaper which described Grind House films as movies made during the late '60s, '70's and early '80's that major studios wouldn't dare touch because they consisted of topics such as extreme gore and violence, sexual situations, and anything else the general public probably wouldn't want to see. In The Texas Chainsaw Massacre's case, there was a psychotic chainsaw murdering cannibalistic family. No WAY a major studio would touch such a thing back then. I think that is why these Grind House movies are considered classics now because they approached unapproachable topics during their time.

Do you remember the rest of the list? Any overlaps? Any new additions besides The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? I've seen the original, the remake and The Beginning and own all 3 on DVD.

Well, that's hard to believe, because judging on name alone, it sounds highly promising.
"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

Off the top of my head, the only one that I can remember that wasn't on your list was Hells Angels on Wheels. It stars Jack Nicholson, a gas station attendant who is finally accepted by the Hells Angels. Sounds like every gas station attendant's dream to me.

Question about Kurt Russell's Grindhouse cars. Spoilers ahead so don't click it if you haven't seen it According to my good friend the Internet, Kurt Russell drives 2 cars in ths film, a 1971/72 Chevy Nova SS and a 1969 Dodge Charger. What was the first car he drove that he killed Rose McGowan in that had the skull and bones on the hood? He later went on to kill Vanessa Ferlito and her friends in Austin.
I'm not as much concerned with the car he later had the chase in at the end of the movie with Rosario Dawson and her friends, just the first car.
Thanks in advance, The Irishman

Thought this might interest blibble ---------------------------------------------------------------- Machete update! Some time before GRINDHOUSE apparently had the box office drawing power of a steamer left on the theater floor, there were reports that director Robert Rodriguez was planning a straight-to-DVD spinoff featuring MACHETE, one of the faux trailers during the double feature. Is a solo MACHETE still in the cards? It is if everyone's favorite Hollywood hunk Danny Trejo has anything to say about it! And he does: the regular Rodriguez collaborator says it's "definite", and that it may even happen before SIN CITY 2 (in which Trejo will have an as yet unknown role). Rodriguez has apparently shot as much as one-third of the movie already. Source: JoBlo

Vanishing Point 1/2 (First Viewing) Kowalski, the hero of the story, works for a car delivery service. He takes delivery of a 1970 Dodge Challenger to take from Colorado to Frisco, California. Shortly after pickup, he takes a bet to get the car there in less than 15 hours. After a few run-ins with motorcycle cops and highway patrol they start a chase to bring him into custody. Along the way, Kowalski is guided by Supersoul - a blind DJ with a police radio scanner. These are the best chase and stunt scenes on a highway that I've ever seen! Richard C. Sarafian was, to my surprise, superior to Tarantino in this regard. I loved Death Proof and, in my opinion, easily superior to Planet Terror, however Vanishing Point was probably a little better than Death Proof. Barry Newman pulled off a GREAT job as Kowalski. What impressed me the most with him was his ability to look like a bad a$$ sitting behind the wheel of a car for 90+ minutes. Great action but I was disappointed with the ending.

Great action but I was disappointed with the ending. The ending definitely caught me off guard, but I am having a hard time deciding whether I liked it or didn't like it. I think by the time the movie gets to the end it just seems like there is no way out for him, and with all the flashbacks to the horrible things he has seen and been through I guess he just didn't care if he lived or died. I still really enjoyed Vanishing Point despite the ending.
