So I'm assuming they'll share more air time then th 5 minutes they had in Heat.

Should be good. Now we've got to work on getting Redford and Newman together again.

Imagine if they played gay lovers and did a graphic sex scene.

That would probably be the most ambitious thing for either to do at this point in their careers.

I just read the plot synopsis on joblo. It says that Pacino and DeNiro will both play veteran detectives paired together to track a serial killer.

Like it even matters. I'd pay to see them act in ANYTHING together.

Well, let's be honest, they've hardly stretched themselves in years, and now they seem like they're returning to, well, familiar territory.

I think the ballsiest thing a performer can do is to act against type, against what is not only what he is praised for, but expected to be.

And I can't think of a more ambitious turn for either to play. An older, more mature Brokeback Mountain, perhaps.

Finally!! \:\) I'm probably really outnumbered here, but personally, I like both their earlier work than recent (of course with few exceptions). I don't know! \:\/ It seems perhaps they are both at a stage in their careers (and life) where they can sit back and not be real particular on what films they're in. DeNiro's comedies have never appealed to me, and neither have many of Pacino's recent films.

Yet,I've always been more of a Pacino fan, but consider both the best actors of my lifetime. Regardless of the films they make, they both have the "right stuff."

Then too, I've always been a sucker for cop/detective searching killer type storylines, so this does sound very appealing to me. I will look forward to seeing both superstars together. \:\)

Why is superficial violence more tolerable than superficial sex?

Or should I say gay sex?

Anyway, point made, I think. No need to continue with this.

DeNiro is such a better actor than Pacino I can't even believe they're spoken of in the same breath.

HEAT rules, btw. I know some people can't get over that they shared only two scenes or whatever, but fuck it. Its fucking great.

This movie sounds like a generic star vehicle, but hey Pacino and DeNiro...theoratically it should be fun, but considering Pacino and DeNiro are now in the utility-bill paying phase of their careers, who knows.

Though I like both of them for their earlier roles, Al Pacino in recent times totally annoys me. DeNiro's comedies are no good either. And I am an anti-fan of cop thriller movies. I am not at all looking forward to seeing this. I don't know if capo is joking, but I seriously think playing a gay couple would be far more challenging for both of them than cop/mob genre.

Michael Corleone was the only role he played that I thought was really good. I enjoy watching him because of how funny he is, but a great actor? GTFO.

I believe they're both very talented actors, as I'm sure many would agree. I cannot wait to see this film! Knowing my theatre, we won't get it. We usually get kid shows, slasher films, and stupid comedies. Not the brightest group in Little Chicago. Too much methane from Excel, the local source of pollution (pig slaughter house plant).

Half-joking at first, not now. Affection and love are more challenging than firing guns.

Neither Pacino nor De Niro really act anymore; in fact, they're just animated props. Pacino's yelling and gum-chewing could easily be replaced by CGI... once, I'll admit, CGI improves.

I don't think any male screen performer comes close to Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman or Gael GarcĂa Bernal right now.

I love SERPICO Ronnie.

My favorite part is when he arrested a bookmaker picking up his receipts. Back at the station he's getting preferential treatment and Serpico flips out. "He's a FUCKING COP KILLER!!"

The three roles that were, in my opinion, academy award worthy for Pacino were Michael Corleone, Serpico and Col. Frank Slade (for which he deservedly won an Oscar).

He was fantastic as Col. Frank Slade in Scent Of A Woman. If you actually watch him act in that movie, you really appreciate the outstanding job that he did playing a blind man. Brilliant.
