Miggy, know where I went today? Philadelphia. And I thought of you as I had a Philly Cheesesteak with a side order of Fries smothered with cheese!

No, we went to a place right in old city, by the Liberty Bell. And it was just as good as Pat's.

I actually wanted to go La Veranda for lunch, but we were pressed for time.

Oh, and you know about my past experiences with getting shut out of the Philadelphia Mint, right? ( you were with me last time I got shut out)

Well, we get to Philly and at first we were going to do some other things and then hit the MINT at around 2:00 ( it closes at 3:00 as you remember )

After some discussion, I decided that I was not going to get shut out of there for a third straight time. So we agreed to go there first. We get there, and it's opened. And I finally got to see it! As we are walking out, I see the sign posted with the hours of operation "9:00 AM - 3:00 PM" and pasted over the sign there is a notice saying

"Today we will be closing at 1:30 PM"

Had we gone with our original plan to go there in the afternoon, I would have been shut out again!

If that would have happened you would have seen me on the TV : "Man loses mind at Philadelphia Mint, gets shut out for the third straight time and is arrested for disorderly conduct. News at eleven!"

Was the Mint worth the wait?

It was pretty good. I was a bit disappointed to learn that they no longer print paper money there as that has been moved to Washington.

But it was pretty cool to see where they make the Medals for the Military and where and how the make the coins.

Didn't know they made Military medals there. I'll have to look at the back of the Col's and see if it says Made In Philly That will take a while cuz he has plenty of them.
