Triple H Approves Of HBK Beating Edge On Raw Date Added: May 20, 2007 Story By: Daniel Pena sources: Wrestling Observer Newsletter
Raw head writer Brian Gewirtz was credited, or blamed, depending on your point of view, for booking Shawn Michaels to pin World Heavyweight champion Edge on his last night on Raw. Gewirtz's explanation was that guy leaving the territory, or brand in this case, has to job on the way out.
Triple H was the power behind the move because when it was questioned, he supported it, which made it close to a done deal. There is a belief backstage that Triple H doesn't want Edge to succeed, noting that he tried to block all previous plans of him to moving to SmackDown and winning the title until Mr. Kennedy went down with an injury, and at this point he couldn't reasonably block it anymore. There was vocal opposition to Edge being pinned, saying that it makes the SmackDown title and champion look secondary. Triple H's argument was that HBK is the biggest tenured star on the brand, and he had just put over Khali, and he needs a big win because he'll be wrestling Cena on PPV again within the next few shows. On the other hand, Michaels suggested doing a non-finish, since from his perspective, the key point of the match was for him to be beat down by Randy Orton to promote their match for tonight at Judgment Day. Michaels said he didn't want to bury the SmackDown title but was told it was Vince McMahon's decision and he wasn't changing it.
As you might imagine, Edge wasn't pleased with the booking decision and he wasn't hiding his dissatisfaction backstage that night. Edge is said to be happy to move over to Smackdown because internally it's considered less political, not to mention that he doesn't have to deal with a certain wrestler as much anymore.

Wow, Triple H is such a damn jerk.
Hopefully Edge flourishes over at SMACKDOWN!

Wow, I can't believe I'm writing this but this week's Smackdown! was more enjoyable than Raw I haven't seen Smackdown! since January and I must say, JBL isn't as annoying on the mic as he used to be Actually, JBL has been fun as the guy trying to be seriously analytical as possible for wrestling. From criticizing the Hardys as guys who rather be on the highlights reel than be champions(which for kayfabe, is a good point) to telling Michael Cole last night to stop with the Eddie G. "homages" in any move that Benoit executed...he rocks. SMACKDOWN! is the only WWE program with a decent wrestling show. I mean, it has a top card, it has a mid-card, it has a tag team division......... One would think the Benoit move to RAW will help it, but again....WWE screws up most things these days anyway.

IMO, they've been screwing up for a LONG time. I can't believe Benoit has only had 1 title run whereas Cena's had the title for like the past 6 months No shit. No FUCKING Shit. Look, I understand why RVD last summer got shitblasted. He was both the WWE and ECW champion, and what happens? He gets pulled over for "Speedin & Weedin," and embarrases the company, the roster, and himself. I understand that. But for Benoit, I don't get why he's buried. Sure his mic skills are weak. BUT SO ARE BOBBY LASHLEY'S, and he's being pushed so far up our asses, he can taste what we had for breakfast! If anything, Edge and Benoit could have had a good program on SMACKDOWN!, with Edge being the cocky asshole jackass, and Benoit the quiet ring-master, and both the flip-side of the Canadian heritage of Wrestling: Bad and Good, so forth. Right?

-Well the Great Khali changes his zip code again. Can they EVER find a place for this guy (probably not) - YES King Booker is back and coming to Raw. He should have some good matches with Cena, although unfortunately they'll never give him the title -Wow, Beniot goes to ECW. Now that Lashley is stripped of his title, hopefully Beniot will get it and have some great battles against Elijah Burke -Torrie Wilson goes to Smackdown! Say it ain't so -Biggest shock of the night was Lashley going to Raw -Ric Flair goes to Smackdown! Yes he'll make the show more entertaining, but he belongs on Raw -And Mr. Kennedy goes to Raw too Raw made out the best with the additions of King Booker, Lashley and Mr. Kennedy. I'm just afraid now that they'll push Kennedy against Cena and Booker will be wasted as a mid-carder -Definitely the best match of the night was Lashley vs. Benoit

There goes the Kennedy/Edge program I guess. Boo. But you really surprised Irish on Lashley? Hes been on RAW more than ECW TV.

What in the blue fuck was up with the conclusion of RAW last night? Seriously, name a single part of it that made ANY kind of sense. You know, its no more illogical than the Rock tossing Austin off the bridge, Austin blowing up the DX bus with explosives(he's the #1 suspect!). Its still stupid, but maybe it leads into a decent STORY for once. Yet I have a feeling that WWE will botch it, like the Austin-Lincoln car hit and run. Oh and IRISH.........Elijah Burke? He sucks. CM PUNK rules.

Snitsky goes to Raw to. I don't understand this storyline about Vince. Why are they having him like he is losing his mind? And now getting blown up? No idea about the crazy Vince thing. Maybe this car bomb story is to abort the crazy Vince schtick that people didn't care for. But as for the car bomb, I assume now the whole summer will be this one question... Who nuked Vincent Kennedy McMahon? Everyone that trashed VKM last night is a suspect(nevermind that Bret Hart's promo was in Hawaii, but whatever) and then we find out the culprit is some guy the WWE wants to push as major league. EDIT - On another note, I must say the car bomb surprised me. I was expecting Triple H to wreck VKM with ole "Sledgie" out of no where, or something that cliche. Instead, this is a cliche of the Attitude Era.
