Kill Bill - The Whole Bloody Affair HOLY F*CKING SH*T! NO WAY, this might actually become AVAILABLE to fans!? It's 4-discs no less!! November 6th can't come fast enough

I also found this website that said the Kill Bill - The Whole Bloody Affair DVD will be released on September 18th (the same day as DEATH PROOF). I'm all for that as it's almost 2 months sooner! The DVD set is supposed to be 4-discs. I'm guessing the movies will be 1 & 2 which means 2 discs of supplements

What is "Kill Bill - The Whole Bloody Affair"? How is it different than the original Kill Bill Vol.'s? And also, Death Proof? As in the second part to Grindhouse? Why are they releasing it separately from Planet Terror? Are they going to release Grindhouse on dvd the way it was showed in the theater?

I guess Weinsteins really are releasing GH split on DVD. Tsk Tsk.

As for KILL BILL: THE WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR, a quick summary:

KILL BILL the script that I read, as did rest of the world, was really the most epic and expensive martial arts trash movie written, easily 3 hours if QT had his way.

Problem was, a 3-hour martial arts movie wouldn't cut well in theatres, so Miramax and QT made that fateful decision to "split" it into two films, and basically try to shoot and edit more additional footage as seperate releases.

So, is this Kill Bill: Whole Bloody Affair dvd just going to be both volumes sold together? According to Irish's link the movie will still need two discs. The link said it's going to be rated NC-17, so that must mean there is going to be a lot of extra footage right?

What the fuck? They could at least release the original cut on DVD in addition to the split versions. That's absolutely ridiculous. I'm ready to kill an animal with a blunt instrument. This is stupid.

Blibble, take those Longer edits of the LORD OF THE RINGS movies, about 200+ minutes long. You have two discs for each of those movies, first half on the 1st disc, the second half on the second disc. Its like the old school VHS that split a 3-hour movie into two cassettes.

The argument for this practice is that it keeps the film's video transfer image from being horribly compressed because of data cramming.

As for the 2 other discs....special features?

I agree. I wish they would release it as one cut with the trailers in between like they did in theaters. If they split up the movies, I'm wondering what's going to happen to the trailers? I think the movie will lose a little something being split but that's just my opinion.

To be honest, it's not the premise or the plot of Grindhouse that interests me at all. It's the gimmick... The homage... the nostalgia. All that. The movie just wouldn't be so bold to me, or as bold as it is, if not for the atmosphere.

I couldn't of said it better myself. Even though it flopped at the box office, I'm really hoping they make a second. I've heard rumors that if they do go ahead with it, DON'T and THANKSGIVING will be made.

They'd better find some new producers, because I think the Wino-steins seem a bit malice to let a second one float.

And I wouldn't blame them. One of the problems I thought was they ran wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many ads. Look, if you slap Tarantino's name onto something, people are going to see it (even he presents it, people still think he directs it). Take advantage of the stupid people like they have been doing. I'm not sure what their final figures were on advertising but I saw a lot. I thought they could have cut back and saved some money. However, the DVDs haven't been released yet so lets see what happens. Nowadays movies flop in the box office and regain it all in DVD sales/rentals.

I'm sure an uncut DVD will come in time, if only to make money off of die hard fans and serious movie-goers. Until then, I'm holding off.

I might as well. However, I heard this inital DVD release will be a 2-disc set. Also, I don't want to have to wait for YEARS like I did with the KILL BILL special editions!

I had to wait 10 goddamn years for PRINCE OF THE CITY to make DVD, and guess what?

WB botched it.

It aint the movie man. The movie kicks ass.

Its the DVD. WB sorta half-assed the video transfer, they took out the Lumet commentary track, and basically gave the 2nd disc just a trailer and a 30-minute featurette...thats inadquete.

Its like with those original non-CGI edits of STAR WARS we finally got on DVD, and its the ass-wiped quality 1990 Laserdisc prints that LucasFilm slapped on DVD.

Still nobody has answered my question as to what the difference is between this and the original two other than that instead of selling them as two seperate dvd's, they are putting those same two dvd's into one case along with two other discs. I asked about there being extra footage because the original wasn't rated NC-17, and if this new dvd set is, then there must be extra footage right? Are you reading this through Ronnie because I'm thinking this through and have wrote what I thought. I'm just asking if anyone else knows more of the details. You read the script, along with the rest of the world apparently so tell me. Was there a lot of stuff left out of the movie that was in the script? Stuff that would make the rating bump up to NC-17?

Yes Blibble, I believe more scenes/shots will be added but I think the big difference is in the House of Blue Leaves. Their won't be any black and white this time around, it'll all be in color. These are some of the differences I was able to find between the American and Japanese versions with minimal research:

- The opening scene between The Bride and Vernita Green has two alternate angles shown when The Bride asks for a towel instead of keeping the overhead shot.

- In the anime sequence, one of Boss Matsumoto's men has his face smashed into a wall twice, rather then just once.

- In the anime sequence, when O-Ren Ishii kills Matsumoto and tells him to look at her face, she asks him to look at more facial features (nose, chin. etc.) to be recognized, and then before pulling the knife out, there is a close up shot of her moving the knife up his stomach and then finally pulling it out. There are a couple of close up shots of Matsumoto's face as he's dying as well that were eliminated from the US print and then a pan up shot of Matsumoto's blood covered and disemboweled body.

- The "House of Blue Leaves" fight is not only in full color, but features about 9 new shots missing from the US print which include:

1) A close up of the first female Crazy 88 (Julie Manase) gargling blood after being pinned to a wodden pillar by a sword. This shot, while cut from the US version of Vol 1, showed up in the end credits of the US cut of Vol 2.

2) A shot of The Bride stabbing two Crazy 88s at once using her own sword as well as another Crazy 88's sword.

3) A ten foot high super backflip that The Bride executes before landing back down to pop out one of the Crazy 88's eyes. This shot appeared in the TV spot teaser, but disappeared soon after.

4) The Bride jabbing a Crazy 88 in the throat with her "snake fist", and the partially armless Sofie Fatale giving a disgusted reaction.

5) A shot of another female Crazy 88 attacking only to get slashed in the throat and spraying blood everywhere.

6) The first appearance of the "Kid Crazy 88" (the one who gets spanked with the sword). In this shot, we now find out why he's missing a mask later on. As he's about to attack The Bride, she swipes his mask off. We see he's just a kid, and he gives the universal "don't hurt me" sign. The Bride has a look of shock on her face in realizing he's just a kid, so she grabs him, throws him across, knocking 3-4 Crazy 88 into a blood filled mini pool. This shot of the 3-4 falling, while cut from the US version of Vol 1, also showed up in the end credits of the US cut of Vol 2. Overall, this "mini scene" helps establish The Bride's look of surprise even more when she sees the young Crazy 88 the last time... and his follow up "don't hurt me" look even funnier.

7) A shot of a Crazy 88 getting slashed across the chest and spraying blood all over a wall.

8) When The Bride jumps onto the shoulders of one of the Crazy 88, after she slashes another one across the face, the Crazy 88 she's standing on tries to attack her from below. She parries the attack and cuts his hands off. The shot then cuts to the forward sommersault.

9) Since the fight is already in color, the close up "eye shot" of The Bride blinking is cut. Instead, the first part of the close up before she blinks is shown, however, at the point when she normally blinks, there is a replacement medium shot of her standing slightly fatigued and holding her sword out.

- Finally, after the "House of Blue Leaves" fight, is the most infamous of the missing scenes and that is Sofie Fatale's extended "trunk interrogation" scene. After The Bride warns Sofie about cutting off something, instead of cutting back to Sofie in the hospital, The Bride is shown grabbing Sofie's arm and screams "GIVE ME YOUR OTHER ARM!". Sofie starts to panic, but then The Bride chops off her other arm, causing blood to splash onto the screen and Sofie begins screaming again.

I'm really looking forward to it.

I read in a recent interview with Marty that Travis (TAXI DRIVER) and Charlie (MEAN STREETS) are the only two characters from his past that he would ever consider re-visiting onscreen.

Yeah I loved the Kill Bill movies, although I wouldn't rank them above Pulp Fiction as far as Tarantino movies go. I liked Vol. 2 better than the first... how about you?

My Tarantino list would look like:

3) JACKIE BROWN
4) PULP FICTION
5) RESERVOIR DOGS

I loved the KILL BILLS more than GRINDHOUSE. In fact, I was thinking about it recently, and I'd say the KILL BILLS are my favorite movie of all-time behind only SCARFACE. They've truly changed my life and I've watched them dozens of times and they never get old!

I almost rank them in the exact reverse order.
