Last day of school for my kids as well. They were let out at 11:00.

My wife called me to say my oldest is home playing video games with his buddy while my little girl and her friends are swimming in the pool. My middle guy, the "J-Bird" as I call him, went with some friends and the mom of one of them to Hershey Park.

Ahh, to be a kid again in early June.

I love Hershey Park! In fact I love going to that part of Pennsylvania. We try to go at least twice a year. Usually one weekend in the summer, and then for 3 nights for New Years. They have a really great New Years Eve party and it's just a whole lot of fun being at Hershey. The park itself is decorated so nicely for Christmas.

DC, this is the 100th anniversary of Hershey Park, and during the off-season they built a boardwalk, which caters to more water rides. I live less than 15 minutes from the park, and am ashamed to admit that I don't get there often enough in the Summer.

Christmastime is my favorite time to go as the park is transformed into "Candylane." Cal Ripken has been a regular with his family this time of year. Many of the rides are open and the lights are wonderful. In fact, we have in the past gone on the afternoon of New Year's Eve when there were absolutely no crowds.

There are some pretty good restaurants around the park that are reasonable. DeFenici's on Chocolate Ave. is my favorite. Delicious Italian food and plenty of it.

Be sure to let me know if and when you'll be coming to Hershey. I'll be there for my older boy's baseball game tomorrow evening when it's supposed to be humiand hot. These are the days where the whole town smells like chocolate.

Hershey Park is great. It's so close to hear. Between there and Kings Dominion they've been a tradition in my family since I was a wee crabcake. You can leave early in the morning, be at the part when it opens, and spend most of the day there, then drive home and it's still not all that late. I absolutely love taking the tour of the chocolate factory. If you can come out of there without buying a humongous chocolate bar you've got more will power then I'll ever have.

Yes Klyd. When I was there this past New Years, they had just switched over the sign advertising that it was their 100th anniversary.

I'll let you know if and when I get out there. I surely will be there come New Years.

Beth, you are sooo right about buying chocolate when you finish that factory tour. They even peak your taste buds by giving you a sample chocolate bar when you walk out of the tour.
The last time we were there, my wife and I bought $54 worth of Chocolate and Licorice to bring home.

I haven't been to Hershey Park in about 5 or 6 years. My nieces loved country singer Linda Davis, and she was singing at the pavilion. We mainly went to see the show. She was about 6 or 7 months pregnant and it poured down raining. This woman was pregnant, and skinnier then me. I felt like throwing her off the stage. I always come away with a souvenier. I got my brown Hershey Kiss key chain with me name on it. So in any event I'm too drunk to remember my name someone can say, "Just look at your keychain". "Oh, thank you, thank you very much". My daughter and her friend went last summer and she brought me back a t shirt.

Tomorrow, Friday, June 8th at 8:00 P.M. on Turner Classic Movies: "The Last Angry Man" starring Paul Muni (the original "Scarface") in his last film. Muni is excellent as an old doctor in a changing world. Set your VCR's and DVR's... its a hard-to-come-by movie and its a welcome addition to any collection.

Sometimes i hate living in Australia.We miss out on so much.Even our pay tv only occasionly plays the classics.

I'll tie a ribbon to my finger to remind me. But what good does it do to tie a ribbon if you can't remember the reason you put it there to begin with...haha. It might be something good to check out. After tomorrow I start my vacation, so I'll sit back and down my bottles of Orange Dream sickle and White Russian mixes. I might not remember what it's about Saturday morning though.

I think Turi's the biggest Whore around here, because he doesn't limit his randomness - or indeed his whoring - to this thread alone. I've even seen him, in the past, whoring around in the Godfather section, where serious matter happens! When everyone else was talking about who left the curtains open, Turi was talking about nipples and ice cream.

Nope. I'm an open book. I was gonna do a spare of the moment thing and hop a bus to NY for a few days. Then reality hit and realized the financial situation wasn't there.

NYC in the summer is ridiculously expensive. My niece is getting married in the city this summer. The few hotels that still had rooms were about $400 per night. Insanely expensive.

$400 a night better include more then a mint on your pillow. It should include personalized room service.

We used to be able to get a suite at The Waldorf for less than $300, now we couldn't get a room for less than $400. And most of the hotels were sold out anyway. It was absurd. And that $400 didn't include anything more than a bed and clean (hopefully) sheets and towels.

Their prices seem to go up year to year. I think the first time I went to NY about 4 years ago my hotel room was under $200 a night, and it was a fairly decent size. When I went the following year and looked at that same hotel it was over $300 a night. Paul said because they added a bar to the roof. Unless I'm getting unlimited acces to that bar I'm not paying for it..haha.
