Wow.

Here are the current betting lines for each, from 2 separate sports books...

SEA: Hernandez (3-4, 4.58 ERA) vs. PIT ....-200, -210
BAL: Bedard (4-4, 3.64 ERA) @ SDG ....+112, +102
TOR: Marcum (4-2, 3.41 ERA) @ LAD ....-134, -132
SDG: Wells (3-4, 4.86 ERA) vs. BAL ....-112, -112
CHC: Lilly (5-4, 3.69 ERA) @ TEX ....-118, -131
NYY: Clemens (1-1, 3.65 ERA) @ COL ....-176, -198

Negative numbers indicate favorites, and the larger the number the more they're favored (or unfavored). So it looks like SEA is expected to be the big winner, and there's no faith in BAL.

Of course, those are betting lines -- and bookies make money, so....

The only thing that can be predicted accurately about baseball is: any team can win or lose on any given day. ;\)

The crowd was cheering Flanigan's name to be put in the game. I think if he hadn't the whole stadium would have charged the field..haha. The last inning of the last game the bullpen gate opens and Mike strolls onto the field. It was a very touching moment. I know The Orioles were losing, but no one cared about the score. Mike could have given up a grand slam and he would have still been cheered. Now that he's part of the top management of the suck ass O's he doesn't get the same treatment. \:\)

I'm glad to have been able to see a game at old Memorial Stadium. A former colleague of mine grew up in Baltimore in a house right next to the stadium. For home games he and his brother would charge $5 to allow fans to park in their driveway. They made enough each night to buy tickets and get a hot, dog, drink and ice cream. That was in the day when you could get a cheap seat for a dollar.

People who live in the Pimlico area do the same on Preakness day. They make a killing. They're gonna commit suicide if the Preakness leaves Baltimore.

I've been to exactly 2 games at Oriole Park. It's too corporate feeling for me. I loved Memorial Stadium. Now they worry about sky boxes and fancy schancy things. I'd rather go to a AAA game.

Yeah. There's something to be said for bleachers on a warm Saturday afternoon in July.

So sorry, SB. I should know better, shouldn't I?

Will Jeter get you back on my side? \:D

Another one of our relievers gave up 6 runs in one inning last night, putting us behind 8-4 for the loss. Are they giving each other tips on how to screw things up??

Just think, CS, this could be the spark your boys need. The big turnaround! The comeback! Maybe they just needed to get rid of the 'bad blood.'

Wait, you're an Astros fan now...aren't you? \:D (They could use a spark, too.)

(In my best politician voice) Today, I consider myself a true fan of... baseball. ;\)

The one constant through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It's been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again. Oh people will come. People will most definitely come.

All jokes aside... What a great speech! \:\)

What a fantastic scene. Everything about it was perfect - the music, the ghost baseball players walking in the background, James Earl Jones's hand movements, the perfectly manicured baseball field...

That scene makes you want to watch the entire movie just to get to it.

Well, I surely want to go watch it now!! I do love Field of Dreams.

Gi, You're ALWAYS on my good side. And I sympathize with the Astros. My boys went from 14 1/2 games out down to 8, and I believe it's back to 11. Rocket couldn't even give them five innings today.

Thanks for the Field of Dreams clip. It was especially sweet tonight as my son smoked a two-run double tonight in extra innings to allow his team to win the Harrisburg Suburban Little League Championship.

SB, I guess there's still one thing to be thankful for...it's a looong season. As long as our boys decide to do something by the end of that long season, right??

Klydon, that's great! Give your son a big congrats from us.

How funny that I got an even zero for pitching. Last night, as I was trying to decide on a pick, I thought to myself that it might be better just to choose a team not playing and go with no points, rather than risk a screw-up and possible negative numbers.

Thanks, Gina. He had a great post-season run. his team finished 22-3 and he crushed the ball most of the season. he pitched very well and developed a very effective curve ball.

What really made my wife and me a little misty was when they announced his name to receive his trophy, his teammates started chanting, "MVP! MVP!"

He made the leaqgue tournament team to begin the quest for Williamsport. While playing in Williamsport is beyond their wildest dreams, they have a decent shot to win their district.

I think we should have awards at the end of the season for stuff like this. Then we could all feel special about something.

KL, your son truly is quite the star! It must be wonderful getting to watch him play.

GG: "Hey ump, how 'bout a warning?"
CC: "Sure, kid. Watch out you don't get killed."

AHHH!!!! I'm taking a screenshot of that!!! So I can show everyone that I wasn't in last place ALL year!

By the way, is it true that everything is reset at the All-Star break? I'm in a nice groove here, I don't want to start from scratch.

Yeah, we start all over at the All-Star Break... so you have another chance to be in last place again. \:p ;\)

Your on! What other awards could we have? Something like "Most days in last place even though he/she tried"? ;\) Or "Made the Most Excuses"? or "Talked About Something Other Than Baseball" award? Hmm.... what else?
