But Gina, it was my attempt at my Anti-Jinx™ -- I figured if I picked against the 'stros, they'd win! Sorry it didn't work out... I'm so pissed about Proctor walking in the losing run Yanks are doing terribly once again! And on Jeter's 33rd birthday!!

Hey, Gina... maybe Bore-owski (and The Proctologist) should rot in hell, eh?

3000 what, botched saves and losses between our two teams? (Really, I'm not sure... 3000 what?) PS - I really do feel your disgust - the Yanks are the exact same way right now, and it doesn't look good approaching the halfway point.

Yeah, 3000 blown saves, losses, earned runs allowed, home runs, errors, wild pitches, GIDP, etc. Sometimes...when they're really making you crazy...it's almost funny. So, let's talk bad baseball. What kind of losses are you guys having? I know there was a recent blown save - has it been a lot of bullpen trouble? We've actually had decent offense in some games recently, a lack of it always being our problem in the past, but now our relievers have decided to be the bad guys. 3000 is Craig Biggio's career hit milestone he's going for. He needs three more, and now he's set to get them during the upcoming homestand. It's exciting, and I'm really happy for him. He's one of the hardest working guys in baseball, with a complete respect for the game.

I'm feeling your pain over here in the Bay Area. My Giants are just about as horrible, if not worse. The pitching rotation has been really good most of the year, but the relievers are mostly shaky and when they do pitch well the offense can't score a run. It's been a depressing year, and I'm going to be very upset if management does something stupid like trading for a bat thinking they can still make it to the playoffs. In the past years it's resulted in absolutely nothing, and in those trades we lost Joe Nathan, Jeremy Accardo, Franisco Liriano, Boof Bonser....

yo Yo YO !!! Big Daddy back in Da House and giving a shout out .... Anyway nice to see that my little pep talk has kept DB motivated, not only getting him to move into first but open up a lead. See he just needs some pushin .... However it looks like I might have to give a pep talk to Klydon .... Really - last place and to make it worse you are from PA, near Phila. My old stomping grounds - have you no integrity man, no Phila Soul, how can you be in last place and not only in last place but behind a few chicks also ? You need to cowboy up or at least stop associating yourself with Phila and PA .... And 10,000 loses for the Phils, at least they have a lead in something. It's not that difficult - talk about how the Stro's suck and talk about Willy, that will cause palpitations for Gina, causing her to lose focus, that is one. And the other chick Crabby - well she still scares me so your on your own with her. You can try fresh produce as a start. And Gina from quickly looking through this I do not see any of the bad mouthing you said you were going to do. This seems too civil, now if I don't see some serious bad mouthing from you soon, I'll have to put the whammy on not only your fantasy team but your Houston team. Start off with something easy - DB is in first - call him by his name - Douche Bag .... Pork, ummm Geoff the list of names are numerous for him. His recent talk of his big move, I see he is in his typical third place ranking .... So when I check back in here is what I expect; DB to continue his push forward with an even wider lead Klydon - to start to show some friggin Phila pride and at least get atop a chick. Us Phila guys never pass on a chance to get atop a chick. Gina - please start saying bad things about people in the game - you said you would. Pork - something other than third place please ... Basement Bethie - just don't hurt me. Ok - as you were Peeps.

Damn, no time to bitch and moan and complain or whine about tonight (in both games) -- bad T-storms arriving! -- so I may or may not be back a bit later to bitch and moan, and complain and whine... oh, and to update scores... Apparently Bad Daddy doesn't care about blowing up his computer, but I do! Ok - as you were Peeps.

Hey Klydon, I've never understood what the name "Phillies" meant. Is it just because they are from Philadelphia? But that wouldn't make sense because why call themselves the Philadelphia Phildelphians or whatever. I'm not being a sarcastic, I really want to know. The Phillies are the oldest, continuous, one-city franchise in professional sports. The team was named the Phillies in the early 1880s as a take-off on their city's name. For a couple of years in the late-1800s, they were known as the Quakers, most likely in recognition of William Penn, whose presence is still felt in the city. Also, to spark interest in the team during WWII, the team sponsored a contest to rename the team, and they were known for a few years in the 1940s as the Blue Jays. Their nickname, like many baseball nicknames, is on the surface relatively dull, but at least it's not as unimaginative as their long time cross-town rivals, the Athletics. I've always noted the seeming gentility of baseball team names, compared to football. You want birds? Baseball gives you orioles, cardinals and blue jays while football offers predators, like falcons, eagles and seahawks. What's up with the cubs when football has the bears? Even expansion in the 60s, when we were generations removed from naming teams after hosiery, two of which honored red stockings, baseball comes up with goof ball abstract concept names, like the Metropolitans, Expos and Astros. Even worse were the Padres, Angels, Royals, Twins and Brewers. Yes, they all bear some relation to the city, in which they play, and I guess the names reflect a gentility of the sport, a tongue-in-cheek flair that is perhaps lacking in the base meat and potatoes world of football, which I also love. Anyway, I wouldn't change a thing.

They really don't need any more troubles. BDD, I can't be mean to Don Sicilia! He's a true gentleman. Even if he is a Cubs fan. Gina - please start saying bad things about people in the game - you said you would. Shouldn't you be used to empty promises from girls by now??

In true Philadelphia form, I'm hopelessly stuck in the bottom of the standings, talking about next year.
You would have never made it in the early days of this fantasy sports stuff with that attitude .... Here, I'll make you feel at home ... BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!! C'mon you are giving Phila a bad name .... BDD, I can't be mean to Don Sicilia! He's a true gentleman. Even if he is a Cubs fan. Shouldn't you be used to empty promises from girls by now?? Oh come on you can mean to him, it's easy. Listen if you are really having a hard time, I'll send you some of the PMs he sends me when he talks about you ... You know he told me that Maynard Ferguson wasn't really that good - he said he could make better music with wooden spoons, or even with his hand under his armpit ... You gonna take that from him. Regarding the empty promises - well I am married so yes you have me there .... Hey Pork - nice to see you in third place ... for Christmas this year I'm getting you the book I Am Third .... As you were Peeps ....

But with this news about the stuff DS writes you...gee, I guess he really is the bad guy! (The Astros, Willy, Maynard?? Going right for the jugular, huh? )

By the way, J-Bird's Little League all-star team was soundly beaten by Hershey, 11-3. He went 1 for 3 with a run, and pitched a scoreless sixth inning. Hershey had some boys whose dads won olympic medals and one who quarterbacked in the NFL. In fact, I knew we were in a little bit of trouble when their moms came with gloves and could outplay our dads. He still may advance if his team wins their three remaining tournament games, which they can do. My stepson is going to his first all-star tournament this weekend as well. He's thirteen and is one of the top three players in his league, as a hitter and pitcher, so it's pretty exciting. It's going to be a grueling weekend of baseball though with two games a day and possible more on Monday depending on how his team does. I guess I'll just sit out in the sun and continue working on my sunburn.
