Holy crap Capo, I can actually understand you. Hearing someone's voice that you only read their words is like the icing on the cake.

I think foreign accents always sound more homogeneous than they do to locals. I can tell the difference between someone who lives in my street and someone who lives three miles away, but to a Londoner, we'd both be classed the same.

Saying that, since at my university northerners are a rare breed, I had a lot of European students tell me they liked my accent, wondering where I was from (guessing Scotland, the borders of which are an hour and a half to two hours away from me); I was surprised, though admittedly flattered, that they could distinguish it from the southern accent, which may well be more "proper" in its pronunciation and choice of vocabulary and grammar (less slang), but certainly less unique, and more homogeneous.

In that case, that video wasn't me.

They're like those ridiculous Mary Poppins accents. They're actually quite easy to point out once you've heard one.

They're very comical, in my mind. The slang is over-the-top, and the actual pronunciations are just ridiculous.
