The SAGA is airing again -- 3 times this month on Bravo, and all in one shot! First one is tomorrow, Sun 7/1 from 9AM-6PM It's also scheduled for Mon 7/9 and Sat 7/21, but start times aren't clear yet. Keep an eye on the TV Listings
I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

I know... hopefully Bravo will be a bit more tasteful than Spike was...

I just erased the Spike version from the DVR (it's still on the computer) to record the Bravo one. Was it Bravo or AMC that aired it in '02 (I think) with the cute promos and stuff they made? In any event, I still have those...

I just erased the Spike version from the DVR (it's still on the computer) to record the Bravo one. One of these days you'll be able to add that to your DVD collection, right?? Thats a good idea, though, (to erase the Spike version). I think I'll do the same. My only problem is not having the patience to dupe the DVR copy to DVD while deleting all the commercials.

If I remember correctly, it was Bravo that very recently showed the original films - or rather, censored and redubbed versions. The most annoying things that I found were there were so many more commercials than I ever remember before, and there were constant, obtrusive onscreen ads and promos that literally took up the entire lower quarter of the screen. It seems that over time, the films themselves have become secondary to the unending barrage of ads and onscreen promos. Signor V.
"For me, there's only my wife..."
"Sure I cook with wine - sometimes I even add it to the food!"
"When life itself seems lunatic, who knows where madness lies?"
"It was a grass harp... And we listened."
"Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it? Every, every minute?"
"No. Saints and poets, maybe... they do some."

The saga is on from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. here so I'm expecting a boat-load of commercials.

Miggy, the actor links at the bottom of the Gangster TV Listings page is where I get most of the info from...

The BEST deleted scanes are the ones that immediately follow Vito being shot.
James Caan had some scenes that he really shined in and had they been left in, I think he would have won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor of 1972.
Joel Grey ultimately won for CABARET, a sissy movie. Completely agree, I was going to bring this up. When Sonny gets the phone call from the cop telling him Vito was shot, you can see the rage boiling inside him. Also, when he neglects to sit in the Don's chair is priceless.

That was good, I liked a lot of the deleted scenes, this was my first time seeing them.

The closing of GF 2, with Michael reflecting in his chair on the Tahoe estate, is maybe the most powerful of all time. Nope.... that honor goes to the ending of the 1933 "King Kong" with Kong lying in the street and Robert Armstrong saying, "'twas beauty who killed the beast".

Actually the most powerful scene of all time is Michael's silent scream on the opera steps at the end of part III. You stand corrected.

He rips off a piece of Italian bread and dips them into what appears to be fried peppers. Eh? I thought it was just sauce (perhaps "gravy")... but fried peppers?? Maybe it's all that comedy you're playing with those young girls......

Maybe it's all that comedy you're playing with those young girls...... I'd have to look, but I'm pretty sure in the book it was a "sloppy sandwich of fried peppers." That's probably how it got into my head.

I've never seen this version, there's deleted scenes? Yes - The Godfather Saga consists of the first two films edited together in chronological order with several scenes added that did not make it into the theatrical release versions of either film. The only down sides are that the nudity, language and violence have been "cleaned up" a little for broadcast television (originally by Coppola himself), and the over-abundance of commercials. Regardless, the Saga is still a must-see, if you haven't yet. Just get lots of tapes (or whatever you record on) ready. The next showing will be shortly on Bravo. Check this thread, or JGeoff's television listings page for the exact date and time. (I know it's mentioned at the top of this thread.) Signor V.

Definitely peppers. Mama is frying them on the stove when Sonny walks in to tell her the news. It is very Italian-American, to say the least. My brothers were always doing that when my mom cooked. Thank you, Babe!! I knew I wasn't crazy. And I loves me some fried peppers.
