I have a 1972 letter from Richard Nixon to me somewhere. As a class project in second grade we had to write letters to the President, and he (or his staff) responded to mine.
I have campaign paraphernalia from JFK, as well as other presidential campaigns. But most of my stuff is sports paraphernalia.
I also have autographed baseballs of Joe Dimaggio, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, Joe Morgan, Mike Schmidt and Willie Stargell. I have pictures, signed by Pete Rose, Ken Griffey, Jr., Dwight Gooden and other past and present players.
I also have a football from the San Francisco/Denver Super Bowl. It was used for an extra point after one of Steve Young's five TD passes; I'd have to check which one, but it was in the first half.
One relatively inconsequential historical artifact I own that means a lot to me is my grandfather's artillery helmet from World War II.
