I have a 1972 letter from Richard Nixon to me somewhere. As a class project in second grade we had to write letters to the President, and he (or his staff) responded to mine.
I have campaign paraphernalia from JFK, as well as other presidential campaigns. But most of my stuff is sports paraphernalia.
I also have autographed baseballs of Joe Dimaggio, Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson, Joe Morgan, Mike Schmidt and Willie Stargell. I have pictures, signed by Pete Rose, Ken Griffey, Jr., Dwight Gooden and other past and present players.
I also have a football from the San Francisco/Denver Super Bowl. It was used for an extra point after one of Steve Young's five TD passes; I'd have to check which one, but it was in the first half.
One relatively inconsequential historical artifact I own that means a lot to me is my grandfather's artillery helmet from World War II.

klydon, how did you get the Super Bowl football? Also, can you find any pictures of the campaign paraphernalia? I didn't know we were going to add sports memorabilia to the disucess but I don't see why not. When I was 18 I saved up all summer for a Michael Jordan rookie card. Well, I was going to pay $1,000 for the card alone. Instead, I got the entire set (which I believe was $1,300 at the time) for only $1,000 Michael Jordan 1986-87 Fleer Rookie card*Mine's not the picture above, just a picture I found. I'm not sure what the grade is of my card but it's not a 9.5

Why not count music and film paraphernalia while we're throwing sports into the mix, eh?
I have a few things, but I think the two worth mentioning are my two original lobbycards... Both of which are numbered and in excellent shape. One is for The Wild One, and the other The Beatles' film Help!
"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

Nice set you bought. I got the football from a neighbor of mine, who used to deal heavily in sports memorabilia. He had several of the footballs, which bear special indicia of the Super Bowls and teams. Apparently, there are many Super Bowl game balls, which they replace constantly during the course of the game. The used balls were placed in an individual bag that stated the time of game it was used. My son has the football in a display container in his room. I guess it's his now. I'll have to dig up my old campaign paraphernalia. It's mostly buttons. I got the Kennedy stuff in the 1980s when I was a law student in Boston. It wasn't expensive because it wasn't too rare. If you're a big JFK buff, Irish, I would recommend a trip to the Kennedy Library in Dorchester, MA near Boston. I went with my brother on the 25th anniversary of the assassination. It was pretty fascinating. I'd like to see some of the other presidential museums and libraries.

I didn't know if you went to the game or not but that's sweet that you got a game used Super Bowl football. As for JFK, I'm very interested in the topic. When I was younger, my family and I when we first moved to Texas went to Dallas and the Daly Plaza. I'd love to go again. Maybe this year when I head back there (it'll actually be in November)

Great memorabilia you guys. I don't own much in that line. I do have some pictures of JFK & family from bazooka bubble gum. You know, like baseball cards. I was fortunate enough to see Elvis on New Year's Eve 1975 in Pontiac Michigan. I've always been a huge fan and am so happy I got to see him. I wish I could have been able to see one of his Vegas shows though. TIS

I bought them from Mr. Babe! Damn that Mr. Babe, keeping that old stuff around. That's what I get for being a child bride!
