When I point out a mistake, I hear "Can't you just enjoy the movie?" Yes, I AM enjoying the movie, flaws and all. Whatever ends up on the screen is part of the experience.
I think those people are in the very small minority. First of all they just "don't get it". Its not about finding fault with a film. In order to find a "goof", one has to pay close attention to the film. It is my contention that most people enjoy seeing these occasional "goofs" and feeling like an insider, witness the popularity of the "Making of such and such" shows, whereby the film studios, sort of give away their "secrets" by taking people behind the scenes.
