Note: TM hasn't been active in either game since Thursday -- I hope everything's okay with him. I just noticed this today in BBC. BL then mentioned that he hasn't activated any of the players from their recent trade. In the spirit of fairness, and since he has no other option at 2B, and since he's 6 games back in that position, I've put Kelly Johnson in his active lineup, effective tomorrow. I will not, however, do anything with his new SPs as I don't want to be responsible for that.

PS - But look on the bright side -- your Sheilds helped me pass 100 pts for the day! That brings me a little closer to you, and a more competitive/fun game for both of us! \:D ;\)

That's all you got to shoot for right now, unless you think you can gain 520 pts on Douchebag in 2 months... \:\/ (How the fuck did that even happen??)

Edit: Then again, I did gain 79 pts on him tonight alone, so I guess anything's possible. But obviously his All-Star team is a bit tougher to gain on during the long haul.....

Do you mean for RP's? Correct me if I'm wrong.

If that's what you meant, then I disagree because relievers have to be looked at differently. They don't usually score as many points, but they have the potential to destroy you on any given day. A hitter won't usually have more than -1... like maybe an 0/4 with a GIDP. Starters can hurt you, but because they pitch so many innings they make it up in innings pitched. Relief pitching is just plain frustrating because they can score 10 points in one inning pitched with 3 strikeouts (how often does that happen), or they can give up 5 runs and kill you for who knows how many negative points.

In other words... [Whine alert] I hate RP's![/Whine alert]

Well, an examination during the off-season couldn't hurt. To see if those extremes equal out in the end, in comparison to starters... that's all... ;\)

But let's quickly look at Isringhausen...

2IP 4K 0H 0BB = 17 pts ... and gets the win because the offense came through.

Let's look at 2 of DM's other RP's...

Capps goes 1IP with 1K = 4 pts (his offense didn't come thru)
Pena goes 1IP with 1K = 5 pts (he "held" the game)

Combined, that's 2IP (like Isring), 2K (as opposed to 4) - no other hits or walks. So combined they're 9 points. Isring got 17 pts. For the same amount of work, but 2 extra K's. His "Win" came from the offense, not him personally. That's a lot of extra points.

I've always had a problem with relievers getting Wins for no reason except that they just happened to be at the right place at the right time. I always wondered why hitters couldn't get the Win -- walk-off homer wins the game? The hitter should get the win! But I guess that's baseball. A starter can pitch 9 innings of 1-hit ball and still lose. But in that case, they (as you said) have the innings behind them. For RPs, the numbers are more extreme because they don't.

If I ever get that much time (doubtful), I'd like to analyze innings pitched and stat results of SPs and RPs to see if they're close or not....

Simple. DB made some great trades. I made some not so great trades.
I also had a terrible draft.

Well, there are only a few of the original 25 players I drafted left on my roster. That should say something about my draft. \:\/

Please - my pick-ups from free-agency have helped me more than anything... I was what, 7th pick? And I literally was like, "great, I get stuck with A-Rod" -- no kidding! Okay, so he worked out. But Penny? Free agent. Wang? Free agent (twice!). Buehrle (!), free agent. Francis, Gregg, Guthrie, Okajima (I think), Saito (I think).... free agents. (But of course, *when* to use them is my problem - cuz "favorable matchups" don't seem to make any difference apparently... \:\/ )

I f*cked my draft up from the start, when I accidentally picked Soriano #1 overall.

wow

I am a big contributor of this statisitic. I'm too lazy and I always have 4 or 5 open winndows trying to figure out the perfect lineup for BBC.

I'm talking about HERE, on the BB.

Hell, I daily have 10-12 "research" pages loaded, and they certainly don't seem to help much apparently... \:\/

JG, very good points about RP's. I feel the same way about RP's getting a win just because the offense scored for them. They can pitch one inning and get a win. On the other hand, if a starter doesn't go a full five innings minimum, he isn't eligible for the win. That doesn't make any sense to me.

As far as fantasy points go, I wouldn't even know where to begin to analyze SP vs. RP points etc... My head hurts just thinking about where to start.

[Whine Alert]

Speaking of offense scoring runs for relievers and not starters... did Aaron Harang really pitch 10 innings today and still not get the win? If I knew better I would have thought Harang was pitching for my Giants. Grrrr....

Here's to good supporting offense's

Here's to the offense's who support my pitchers.

the first thing in my opinion, that I've already said a few times, is start thinking about not charging pitchers with a loss.

if they do a poor job, the ER + H + BB will tell you. why to kick the dead dog one more time?
