The weather has been shit on-and-off the past week or so. My basement has been leaking. We had to smear something similar to baby-shit around the edges of the windows to keep it dry.

So, my friend/drummer has been having some weird problems with his digestive system. He's better now, but he went to the hospital last night to get it checked out, and apparently his liver is really fucked up.

The doctor assumed he was an alcoholic, and began accosting him with a very round-about questionnaire.

Good news story of the day... did you hear about the little chihuahua that put himself between his owner's grandson and a rattlesnake? He saved the infant from being bit (and got bit himself instead). He saved the kid and although his head swelled up from the bite he's OK now.

I did hear about that on the news. It's so good to hear some positive dog news after all that Michael Vick torture. I'm sure that dog's gonna live the pampered life now.

My lights went out on me for about 15 minutes, in the middle of the night, while I was taking my 3am "constitutional."

Sonuvabitch... I had just fallen asleep when I was awoken by the phone ringing. By the time I got up I missed the call.... it was Don Cardi calling from Sicily.

He left a message saying he was going to see Don Tomasino's villa tomorrow. He went to see the village used as Corleone in the movies but there was some sort of fire that prevented him (from seeing the town). He said he was enjoying the trip.

Hopefully he'll have some pix for us when he returns.

Back to sleep now.

All the men are gone, wars and deaths. I just hope he doesn't get hit by a thunderbolt. Mrs. C will hit him with something else.

I hope he has the cars checked for bombs first. I hope you are having a great time DC.

DC is in Sicily??? Lucky him. I didn't remember him mentioning he was going. I do envy him. I would absolutely love to go some day. I hope he posts pictures when he returns.

DC called me from Sicily earlier -- he's having a terrific time and I'm jealous! He was going to hit the town they used for Corleone in the film, but it was apparently closed off due to a fire, he was pissed. But he met some guy who knows the owner of the villa they used for Tomassino's place and is gonna take pics and email them to him (I hope!). He also started talking to some local mob guy who told him he was staying at "Lucky Luciano's place" (hotel)! Awesome...

That is so awesome. I have read that the people in Sicily do not like to mention or talk about the mafia (understandably), and I don't know that I'd want to even bring up The Godfather or any "mafia" film. Yet, "when" I go to Sicily I'd love to see any GF sites.

Geoff that would be the ultimate GF meet wouldn't it??? Wow!!!!

The last time I was in Sicily, in 1999, the local people of Palermo were happy to show me how to find Teatro Massimo, the opera house from Part III. Those steps gave me chills right to my spine. However, when it comes to the real mafia, they weren't as talkative.

I buy custom O.R. packs for the hospital I work for. I always get a giggle whenever I have to order the T&A packs. When I first started working here I would laugh thinking who was getting the surgery done that needed these. People used to think I was crazy, because they couldn't imagine what I found so funny about people getting their Tonsils and Adnoids out..hahaha.

Admit it, your dirty mind thought the same thing I did.

I know that Corleone was filmed in another city. What city was it?

I actually have put aside a little money for Italy/Sicily trip, but am still concerned about traveling abroad during this season of terror.

I have relatives still in Trapani and a distance cousin named Vincenzo, whom I met a few years ago when he came to the US. He lives in Sicily (at least use to) and speaks English very well. He'd be my "connection" as far as the language barrier goes and I'm sure would know Sicily very well. He contacts my parents from time to time and I am waiting to get an e-mail address for him.

I'll be in Florida next week. I have to "hurricane proof" the condo before it gets too close the the dangerous months of August and September. I really like the one in Fort Lauderdale, at the Yankee Trader Hotel. That's where I made the 48 ounce club. They serve a jumbo cocktail shrimp with their bloody mary's. You'll never get alcoholic malnutrition that way!

I believe SC was joking because when we first started discussing where the meet would be and where to eat, Shula's and smoking/non-smoking became a major topic of conversation. So much so, that we have to look back now and laugh. Well, at least I do.

I think Shula's must be a NY/East Coast thing. I loved it too, but wouldn't necessarily base a vacation around it. I guess I'm not too picky when it comes to my food.

Hell, in Italy, people smoke on the steps of the Vatican!! But, alas, no big steaks in Italy.

I rec'd a voicemail from DC this morning, too. He said that he loves it so much, he's never coming home. I am so jealous. I want to be there so very bad. And I'm so glad that he's having a wonderful time. This was a very special trip for him and his family.

TIS, don't hesitate over the language barrier. And we must somehow be related, because my grandmother's maiden name was DiTrapani, which means of Trapani. My relatives are all now in Partinico (the birthplace of Frankie Five Angels), about 20 minutes outside of Palermo. Sicily is so incredibly beautiful. Every year, we say, Next year we're going back. I hope that we really mean it this time.

I'm so glad (although not surprised) that DC is having a good time. I'm looking forward to lots of pictures.

My grandparents on my mother's side are from Alcamo (sp) Sicily and my father was born and his family were from Trapani. The apartment he was born in still stands (at least as of a few years ago when he visited). I'd love to see it.

I am not related to any DeTrapani's, but I know my parents knew a Frank DeTrapani years ago (in Michigan).
