Quick FYI...

Once again, TRYING to watch GFIII on the AMC weekend marathon. Once again, am bored silly. Just made it past the famous 'gnoochi' scene without vomiting...however I needed computer solitaire as a diversion from Sophia's phenominal acting.

Will try & make it to the famous Michael/Kay scene in Italy, which frankly I've always liked.

Prospects not good on staying with it till the end. Don't have to eat the whole egg...

Caio,

It's great to see you're post Apple. I've missed ya. I had to go to the store so I'm glad I missed the famous 'gnoochi' scene. Now I'm waiting to see the silent scream.

Hi, Mig...

Nice to hear from you!! I probably won't make it to the 'silent screem'. Too difficult to watch and that whole preceding opera segment is so monotonous, I've NEVER ONCE been able to make it through the whole thing.

Still have it on, though...Michael just arrived in Italy. I still cannot handle the presence of Vincent...the very idea still bothers me. Trying to let go of that, not easy. So MANY other possibilities that could've made it a better movie. Water under the bridge, I suppose...

Well, maybe w/ Gangster BB nearby as a 'companion', I might be able to hang in there for moments I've never seen. Will see...

Apple

One neat thing...I finally got to see Zaza's murder which I had always missed & wondered how it got accomplished. Nice job (right or wrong...)!

I like partIII but it bores me so much. I don't understand that whole imobile. and the Vatican back deal. When Mike and Kay walk around the city I want to vomit. That silent scream gives me chills. I hate the ending.

Just watched that scene between uncle whatzhisface (Eli Wallach) & Calo. Second time that 'stone in my shoe' expression has been used. Bad writing. Unimaginative, unoriginal.

Another example of what separates THIS movie from Parts I & II.

Welcome back, Apple!
I think Eli Wallach will be convincing as a sinister Don when the Commission starts appointing senile Jewish grandfathers as heads of Families. He gave Sofia a run for the money...

Actually, Turnbull...I think Eli & Sophia balanced each other perfectly. He overacted and she underacted...

I think it was a just a matter of not having Eli Wallach in the right costume for his part.

Eli Wallach for the most part had been known as a skilled, respected character actor in films, television & theater for 50+ years. I wouldn't even say he was miscast, as with Sofia and the infamous (gasp) George Hamilton.

It's just that in this GFIII part he went a bit over the top as the old world mafioso trying to pass himself off as the cutesy, charming old man. It's a shame Lee Stasberg was no longer around to have coached him in the part.

Agree. It was sickening to see his portrayal, almost laughable.

At first I thought the same thing about that line. That it was bad writing. But then I started thinking about who used it.

Zasa and Altobello. I don't think it was coincidence that it was used twice. Zasa and Altobello were in cahoots with Lucchesi so I like the touch that they would both use it if they used it in their own discussions about Michael.

I've never seen Part III...until now!

I'm DVR-ing it at 12:30 so I can fly through the commercials. Probably watch it tomorrow, I hadn't seen it yet because a lot of people have told me not to because it pales in comparison to Part I and II.

Just because 2 people are in 'cahoots' with the same third party, doesn't necessarily mean they'll use the same cheesy expression. Everyone has their own personality even if all are working with the same agenda.

If by chance that WERE the reason for the line being repeated, then that's even worse writing than I originally thought.

What if this happened in Part II? Would you have a different opinion about it then?

"Wet my beak" and "stone in my shoe" make much more sense in Italian. They are common italian expressions used all the time.

Yeah, and during the Silent Scream, if you listen really hard you can hear them singing "This Is The End
