As long as it doesn't interfere with the all-important Fantasy Sports!

[Off-Topic Alert] I got accepted into both business schools for which I applied! Now comes the hard part: picking between the schools. [/Off-Topic Alert] I've heard of torn between two lovers, but never two majors. Congrats Douche. I guess in a couple of years we need to call you Mr. Douche.

BONUS: What do these present and former MLB players have in common? They are Rod Carew, Gorman Thomas, Dave Kingman and Kevin Youkilis. I think I finally got one! Were each of these players Jewish?? I am almost embarrassed to say how I knew this: from Adam Sandler's "Hannukah Song." Here's the line:
O.J. Simpson - not a Jew.
But guess who is? Hall of famer Rod Carew -- he converted
We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby.
Harrison Ford's a quarter Jewish -- not too shabby
Your clue about the current Met gave me another hint - the media always mentions Shawn Green and his missing of games due to Jewish holidays. You got it.

Lookie, lookie... BL's in second place. Written July 6: Look, BL is leading something. 2nd half is starting after the all-star break. If you manage to keep your DNPs down, you could surprise. Thanks for making me look smart.

Eight Things I Think I Think, Ã la CS, Ã la Peter King 1. I was glad to see that TM is alive and well. 2. Congrats to CS on being accepted into both business schools. I'm sure it is a very satisfying reward for what must have been great dedication and hard work on your part. My warning to you: For me, both sleep and school have gotten in the way of fantasy sports. I blame sleep (instead of, more rightfully, myself) for missing the 7/28 DH - I fell asleep at my computer without ever saving my lineup. Be careful! But I know, if anybody, you can handle it. 3. Yes, JG, Jennings did indeed have a rough day. Despite being fans of the "Good Guys," the disgusted folks at Minute Maid ended up booing him until he was (finally) pulled out of the game. But what a fun game it was to watch, after recovering from the initial embarrassment. We almost won that thing. 4. A sad farewell to Dan Wheeler (traded to TB) and Morgan Ensberg (designated for assignment). Perhaps more to come, as Ensberg is in position to be traded. This is the business we have chosen. 5. "Hi" to Ty, the new guy. JG, did you watch him play in the minors? I forget. 6. CS, besides stealing your 'Things' List to post here, I've also begun using it in my emails to my friend. She is a relatively new baseball fan, as she just started seriously watching this season, but she's already developed a great love of the game. (And its players, but that's another story.) She began sending me "observations," so in reply, I sent Things I Think I Think. 7. I found my new favorite baseball player. 8. Congrats to Cal and Tony Gwynn. I wanted to share a nice article that I read: "A Longtime Orioles Streak Will End, Thanks to Ripken" Link

Thanks for the congrats, Gina! I'll be sure to keep up with fantasy sports as I add classes to my schedule. How else is JG going to stay in 3rd? BTW, I spent the weekend in hot-and-humid Houston. It was, as always, hot and humid. It was a nice time spent with family.

The stupid thing is unless you have Direct TV here in Baltimore you didn't even see the HOF on tv. ESPN classics had the rights to it. http://wjz.com/video/?cid=5

SB, he's my favorite Yankee...that's good enough, right? By "observations", do you mean she sends you pictures of baseball players she thinks is cute?? Nooo....she sends me names, and I look up the pictures to check her judgment. Okay, I'll admit, we have our fair share of 'fantasy' discussion, but she really does get into the game. She wrote this in today's email: "Oh wow, baseball is truly a sport I hate to love." I think she's caught on to it. BTW, I spent the weekend in hot-and-humid Houston. It was, as always, hot and humid. It was a nice time spent with family. Did you catch a Lastros game?? And yes, it is very hot and humid. Today was terrible, even at about 7 in the morning. It's also been a very rainy summer, which sucks for the summer camp job. Beth, thanks so much for the link - he gave a great speech.

Here are some worthless baseball facts.
Since 2000:
The best team in one-run games? Oakland...followed closely by the Dodgers. The worst? Kansas City.
The best winning percentage in extra innings? Yep, Oakland again, followed closely by Cincinnati, .620, .610, respectively. Worst percentage in extra innings? Sorry, Gina, it's Houston. BTW, the most extra inning wins in this span belong to the Twins while the Marlins have lost the most.
Best interleague record? The Yankees. The worst? The Pirates.
Best winning % in games in which the team scores 10 or more runs? Atlanta (113-1)...followed by Montreal/Washington. The worst %? Milwaukee (79-10)...followed by the Padres. BTW, The Rockies have scored 10 or more the most times (159), losing 15 of them while the Pirates scored 10 or more the least (71), but lost only twice.
The team that was shut out the most? Mon/Wash. (85 times). The Red Sox and Giants have been the hardest teams to shut out (47 times).
The team that pitched the most shut outs? Oakland again with 93. The team pitching the fewest shut outs? KC and Colorado are tied with 38.
The team with the best winning % against opponents with a .500 or better winning rate? The Braves (.533). The worst? The poor Pirates again at .348.
Finally, since their inception in 1993, the Rockies have surrendered 20 runs or more on 6 occasions (all at home). The Pirates have only given up 20 or more runs on 5 occasions since 1901.

I studied Italian for 2 semesters. Not once was a "C" pronounced as a "G", and never was a trailing "I" ignored! And I'm from Jersey! lol Whaddaya want me to do? Whack a guy? Off a guy? Whack off a guy? --Peter Griffin My DVDs | Facebook | Godfather Filming Locations

PHI: Hamels (11-5, 3.63 ERA) @ CHC (BL vs. DB, JL, GG) It's extremely rare for me to use a cuss word of any kind on this board, but I just thought this quote fit the situation so perfectly since three of you decided to gang up against me. This is Chris Tucker from the movie Friday: "You just got knocked the FUCK out!" I apologize to those of you who I may have pissed off or offended.
