Michael Corleone, in a display of solidarity with his family, was taking revenge on the Japs for attacking Pearl Harbor on his father's birthday...brother Fredo, attempting to keep up with Michael's exploits, found himself baffled by "Pacific Theater," which he thought was the name of a neighborhood movie house...brother Sonny, having successfully paired sister Connie with Carlo Rizzi, proposed to his father that the Genco Olive Oil Company branch out into matchmaking...brother-in-law-to-be Carlo Rizzi was making his 223rd unsuccessful attempt to get into sister Connie's knickers...
MEANWHILE: In a vest-pocket park on Elton Street near Hegeman Avenue in the East New York section of Brooklyn, the kid Turnbull was being instructed by his father on how to live an enjoyable and rewarding life. "If ya wanna be a swinger, kid," advised Turnbull Sr., "ya gotta start real early..."
What a cute kid!!
Also, noteworthy - check out the carriage in the background. I don't know if they were "indigenous" to the big cities, but those things used to be the size of a Buick; you don't see them anymore - I guess with cars becoming more accessible to many those carriages were replaced with strollers.

I searched and searched, but the photo I was looking for seems to have disappeared - at least, the one original print is gone.
However, the negative did turn up. It was quite worn and faded, but I scanned it in anyway. Despite my best efforts at enhancing, it's a lousy quality picture with poor resolution.
But, it does prove that I made a bella figura, even at age 4 (or thereabouts).
Edit: I finally found the original photo - my mother had used it in a collage!

The brand was either "Parrego" or "Welbuilt." We bought a Parego when my son was born.

The first is her grandmother, taken in 1918; Fredo was having a glass with garlic put on his chest at this time. About the same age then, here is Beth's grandma (looking very much like a doll):
Beth's mother (on the far left) with her siblings in this 1951 photo; you can definitely see the resemblance (between Beth and her mom). Mike and Kay were getting married when this picture was taken:

Beth, what great pics! I really have to root around and find those photos. I know that I have my grandparents' wedding photo as well as a picture of my grandmother with her sisters taken in the early 1900s.
Btw, has anyone looked around on ellisisland.org? My daughter was doing a report on her ancestors for US History, and we found the original manifests that my grandparents signed. Wild stuff.

Boy, I missed so much here today. SC what great pictures of your father. He certainly looked like he kept in shape.
DV, very cute; hopefully that was your only time behind bars (not in bars, mind you)
TB, what a cutie you were as well; and Beth great pictures. I agree, from the pictures I've seen of you, you do favor your mother.

My parents' wedding day. April 13, 1940, Brooklyn.
(standing, from left to right): My mother's youngest brother (Beth, thats my uncle that you met), her parents, her other brother (who would be serving in England in two years - during the war), my dad's sister, and his parents.
(seated, from left to right): My mother's grandmother, my mom, my dad, my mother's grandfather and standing is my mother's nephew (Branch Rickey, the Brooklyn Dodgers' president who signed Jackie Robinson was his "Big Brother").
(kneeling in front): My mother's niece and my father's cousin.
This is a hard photo for me to look at now. Only three of all those in it are still alive. To see my parents together, with their whole lives in front of them and to think now that my dad is dead and my mom is in failing health makes it somewhat depressing. On the other hand, I'm happy I have this picture. Does that make sense?

That is absolutely outstanding. I know how sentimental that picture must be. It makes perfect sense that you're happy to have memories of days gone by, but sad when you reflect on what reality is now. Walking down memory lane is a trip. (pun intended).

Isn't it great to have a picture with not only your parents, but both sets of grandparents in one sitting. Not to mention 4 generations. It's one big happy family.

Great photo, SC! Your folks were married less than a year after mine were. And, while the painted backgrounds were standard in studio wedding pictures of that era, having four generations in the same photo wasn't. I take that as a surefire indication that your family was close, and showed respect for each other.

My mother's side was very close... her two grandparents saw to that. My father's side was close as well, but the family (at least here in America) was much smaller. His father was the youngest of nineteen children ( ) but they were all back in the old country, so we never got to know them.

Very very nice SC. My parents were married in the same time span, more or less, Oct. 4, 1941 and their group wedding picture has the same feel of the era. Beautiful picture.

When are you gonna post some, TIS??
