14 hours? Does that include short films, too? You could get through all of Greenaway's short films for that. (I don't know if they're available on r1, though.)

I don't know if it includes shorts, but there are only 3000 titles online. So I highly doubt if it includes less popular movies. Anyway I found one DVD for rental that has the following shorts:
Intervals (1969), H Is for House (1973), Windows (1975), Water Wrackets (1975), Dear Phone (1977) and A Walk Through H (1978).

Would you recommend it capo?

Definitely, along with this. Those two DVDs are considered his "Early Works". After that, if they take your fancy, you can move onto his feature films, which are amazing.

Smiles Of A Summer Night and Wild Strawberries I think are much more accessible and relatable than The Seventh Seal.

Seal is too symbolic and religious.

Lots of the Watch Now collection are relatively and, in some cases, extremely obscure.

It's pretty great.

I was just thinking to myself that Blockbuster was going to change up their Total Access program and they did!

"We have introduced a new pricing structure for our lineup of subscription plans.

As a result, the price of your current monthly plan, Unlimited Online DVDs up to 3 at a time plus unlimited in-store exchanges each month for $17.99, will increase to $24.99, effective August 31, 2007.

We will not automatically renew your subscription on your next billing date.

If you choose to continue, please select a new plan."

So now I've downgraded to Unlimited Online DVDs up to 2 at a time plus unlimited in-store exchanges each month for $21.99. I knew it'd come sooner or later, but I wasn't expecting it to come so soon. Any other Blockbuster Online subscribers receive the same e-mail?

Irish, I came to your predicted "dark side" immediately \:D . The online viewing collection is very bad. I was banking on that option, because I have a fast internet now and when friends come over to my home, I didn't want them to make faces looking at all the foreign language movies I am viewing currently. I was hoping to use the online viewing to watch popular hollywood movies with friends. But I was disappointed. I switched to blockbuster after the trial period of netflix got over. I took the two DVD scheme. But I was again in for a compromise, as for the same $15 as in netflix for 2 DVDs, they gave only 3 in-store exchanges. The unlimited one is ofcourse what you opted for with $21. So I have settled for $15 for 2dvds online and 3 in-store dvds per month. I also received a coupon from blockbuster online valid for a month. I am not sure if that is going to repeat every month. If so, I should have 4 in-store dvds per month, or else 3. I was wondering whether the existing customers would remain in their old scheme (of unlimited in-store for the reduced prices), but from what you say, that doesn't seem to be the case \:\/

No, it would have been nice to get locked in on those prices but unfortunately not. I bet they're going to receive A LOT of negative feedback from customers and I'm just so glad I won't be working at a Blockbuster anymore. I can already hear people now, "I haven't used all 5 of my in-store rentals for the month..." So glad that's one headache I won't have to deal with \:D

How long have you been with Blockbuster? Also, what didn't you like about Netflix? Their selection or non in-store option? In any case, enjoy it my friend. I'm still pissed about the change, but I knew it would come at some point and I'm trying to make the most of it. I wonder if Netflix will lower their prices to capture some of those who leave Blockbuster.

Since the past 3 days.

Non in-store option is not a big problem for me. And ofcourse their selection is excellent. The problem is their downloadable/streaming content. That collection is very bad. As I said before, it doesn't have most of the popular hollywood movies, which is what I was looking for.

Ok, I understand now. Yeah, the best thing to do (or at least what I do is), watch your Blockbuster Online video's and bring them back to the store on Tuesdays when the new releases come out. That way you stay current in-store and can watch whatever you wish from the online selection

Blockbuster takes its own sweet time to ship the movies. Even when I return the DVD in store (which gets updated online immediately), it takes 3 complete days to get a movie. If I return it on a monday morning in-store, I won't get the movie until thursday afternoon. If I mail it, then it may take one more day. As long as I was having netflix, I felt it was faster in turn around time. Also some movies which are shown as "available" don't necessarily get shipped in order. The bottom line is it is impossible to plan watching any movie. I used to think that their collection would be my main problem, but that is now a small worry.

Yes it's been taking a while to get movies on line for me as well. I would turn movies in on Friday and they wouldn't even send another movie until Tuesday. I turned two movies in on Wednesday and waited to see when they sent me more. Luckily for them they sent two the following day, on Thursday. If they didn't, I would have contacted Blockbuster and asked them why it takes so long when turning the movies in store is "supposed" to be quickier.

I also agree that they don't always send the next "available" movies either, which also pisses me off. You might want to contact them about that as well.

I love having the online Blockbuster rentals... but it can be frustrating every once in a while.

I had two movies that I wanted by this weekend so I put them as well as three other movies as alternates listed behind them. That's five movies to choose from... for some reason I was sent movies six and seven on my list.

They are movies I want to see, but the other five were ones I want to see right away! I would join Netflix, but I like the in store exchange policy too much for Blockbuster... unless of course the store doesn't have the five movies I want! Harumph.

Blockbuster needs to get their sh*t together with their online service. I haven't had any problems except for the frustration you have Blibble. But I have a few people come in saying they receive the same movies they send back and things of that nature.

I even had a customer ask why Blockbuster doesn't do games online like GameFly does. It's a smart idea but I think it's because they still haven't worked all of the bugs out of their online movie rental system yet. And I know when they changed their policies and prices back in August quite a few subscribers cancelled their subscriptions.

Blibble, how many DVD subscription is yours? Mine is 2 DVDs at a time and I can get only 3 in-store DVD per month. I heard from some guy that he still gets unlimited DVDs in-store without that extra amount. I am not sure if the particular store matters, but he is in Portland, Oregon

I get three movies at a time and can exchange each online rented movie for one in-store rental.

I've heard of that too. I don't know how that's working exactly. My "best" guess is that for those who have been with the program from day 1, their membership is still the same. However, for everyone else like you and I, ours changed

$17.99 a month. Even though it can be frustrating it's still a pretty good deal to me. I usually rent the hard to find movies from online, and I exchange them in the store for movies the kids want to watch. The in-store thing is what really got me hooked.

I'm surprised NetFlix hasn't merged with Hollywood Video to do the same thing. Or is Hollywood Video only here in CA?

oh, I read your post wrong the first time svsg. You only get 3 in-store exchanges a month?? That's what you meant right? Exchanging your online rentals for in-store movies? Or do you get three dvd's a month in-store without exchanging anything?

I have to pay whatever the rental cost is if I want to rent a movie without turning in one of my online rentals.

This is getting confusing... why is it different for everyone?

Hollywood Video's nationwide, it's just owned by a different company (Movie Gallery)
