It's safe on Freemont street itself and the lights truly do turn night time into daytime. You wouldn't want to venture outside the downtown area, and you'd wouldn't be able to walk to it from the strip without going through undesirable/unsafe areas. You'd need to take a cab or shuttle. Or you could do what my daughter and I did and take the "Duece" (if you recall our experience.)

I liked it last month cause the casinos were closer together and with the heat that was a plus. However, downtown must be seen at night.

I wish they would have never gotten rid of that old Golden Nugget sign though.
