I love how they've got "from the director of Mission: Impossible 2, even when Woo is more well known for his films in Hong Kong.

If anything, I'd've sold it on account of Face/Off. \:\/

I believe the DVD was released back in 2000 when MI2 was just coming out. But yeah, I thought it was a little weird myself. I'm getting the 2-disc Ultimate Edition of HARD BOILED tomorrow. I really got this for THE KILLER because I don't own it yet and also because it's out of print and king of a collector's item now (like the BETTER TOMORROW 1 & 2 2-pack and the Akira Kurosawa Criterion 4 Samurai Collection that I have).

Picked this up today. I didn't even know they'd re-released it!

"Growing up my dad was like 'You have a great last name, Galifianakis. Galifianakis...begins with a gal...and ends with a kiss...' I'm like that's great dad, can we get it changed to 'Galifianafuck' please?" -- Zach Galifianakis

Looks like I might be buying the GRINDHOUSE DVD's in September

----------------------------------------------------------------

SDCC: Grindhouse Gets Cut in Two

July 26, 2007 - The Weinstein Company and Genius Products announced today that the two films that made up the classically under-rated Grindhouse release will hit DVD on two separate, extended and unrated DVDs.

Quentin Tarantino's serial-killer homage to the old school car chase film, DEATH PROOF will hit shelves with over 30 minutes of additional, never-before-seen footage including the maddening "missing reel" (containing the excised lapdance sequence) as well as a black and white segment in the film's second act. The DVD will hit on September 18, 2007 for a price of $29.95. Features will include:

-Finding Quentin's Gals

-The Guys of Death Proof

-Kurt Russell as Stuntman Mike

-Introducing Zoe Bell

-Quentin's Greatest Collaborator: Editor Sally Menke

-Double Dare trailer

-International Poster Gallery

Meanwhile, the Robert Rodriguez zombie entry, PLANET TERROR, will attack with more footage, deleted scenes, a full commentary and the infamous missing reel. That disc will drop on October 16, 2007 for a price of $29.95 and its features will include:

-Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Robert Rodriguez

-International trailer

-Deleted Scenes

-Cooking School

-10-Minute Film School

-The Stunts

-The Make-up and Effects

-The Badass Babes

-The Renegade Guys

-The Costumes

-The Production Design

Stayed tuned to IGN DVD for more info on these exciting releases.

This is supposedly the definitive version (along with the HD-DVD version). I plan on watching it tonight. I'll give my thoughts later.

Please do. I'd love to watch it in Blu-Ray but don't have a player \:\/ Plus, does that have any of the special features on it that the 2-disc has?

I'm reading the Blu-Ray case, and it seems to match the 2-Disc Special Edition DVD feature-for-feature. What was even sweeter for me was the fact that it was the same price at Target as the 2-Disc DVD was. Usually, Blu-Ray's run for 30 bucks a pop.

It was $23.99. I'd be a fool not to pick it up.

My local Wal-Mart sucks. They don't carry ANY Blu-Ray movies. The Target I work at doesn't have a great selection, but at least they have some. It just means I have to travel 35 miles out of my way to look at Blu-Ray movies.

Then again, there IS the internet. \:D

Do you own a PS3 or a Blu-Ray player? I haven't seen a movie in Blu-Ray yet but I'd like too. However, I have too many standard DVDs to ever switch \:p

I have a PS3.

Believe me, I'm in NO hurry to replace my DVD collection with Blu-Rays, as to me, it's not really necessary. With the PS3 and high-def TV, it makes my current DVDs look fantastic. I'm perfectly content keeping my DVD collection.

Me too. I know before long they'll eventually force DVD buyers to switch to HD or Blu-Ray as they'll discontinue making standard DVDs. However, I'd rather HD and Blu-Ray fight it out for the winner (which I think will be Blu-Ray) and then offer both standard DVDs and Blu-Ray's only. That way all consumers are happy (except those with HD's) \:p

Really? You think it'd be that long Paul? I was thinking in the next 5. The only thing in the favor of standard DVDs is the fact that a lot of material isn't even available on standard DVD, let alone Blu-Ray.

Considering the fact that there are about 4 channels that transmit in HD format that says alot. Also the price of Blu ray and HD DVD dvds are expensive [they are about the same as when dvd first hit the market]. Finally the format war still rages on Hd DVD vs Blu ray. I believe that Blu ray will win because it offers more storage capacity per DVD.

I think Blu-Ray will win out too and I hope you're right that the switch won't be anytime in the near future. And I agree, the prices right now for HD/Blu-Ray are too expensive like when DVDs first hit the market. However, I think with a lot of people being able to afford HDTVs now, the price on HD/Blu-Ray players will come down and more people will be able to afford them more than was the case with standard DVDs. Standard DVDs took awhile to catch on due to people's VHS collections and also their price.
