Hey Mates,

What's the take on the Giants and Dolphins playing in the UK? Anyone on the board going? Will it have a lot of interest or will it interfer with a real football match? What time will it be on TV....or will it? ....etc.

One sports radio guy in NY is calling it a stupid idea. The NFL is robbing the fans of seeing a game, plus extra strain on the players, even though they get a bye week. Your thoughts mates.

I don't like the fact that the "home team" in London loses a home game. I'm not sure if its the Giants or Dolphins at home but either way its not fair. Every team should have the same number of home and away games.

I know nothing about this up and coming game, there hasn't been much media about it where i am.

I thought it was just an exhibition game to mark the opening of the new staduim.

I can't see the ground filling as no one cares about NFL..

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The NFL's first overseas regular season game in London could have sold out the 90,000-seat Wembley Stadium 10 times over, officials said on Tuesday about the league's launch into international scheduling.

Three days after the NFL announced in February that the New York Giants would play the Miami Dolphins on October 28 in London, requests for more than half a million tickets were received, the league said.

"We could have sold out all the seats 10 or 11 times over," Alistair Kirkwood, managing director of NFL United Kingdom, told reporters at a news conference also attended by London Mayor Ken Livingstone.

It's a Dolphin's home game and I too do not agree with taking a home game away from a team, not to mention a season ticket holder.

The Giants haven't played down in Miami in over 10 years and if I was a Giants fan living down in Miami and I lost the opportunity to see my team play live because they moved the game overseas, I'd be real pissed.

To have a team travel that many hours to play that kind of a physical game is just ridiculous as far as I am concerned. There is no doubt that the travel will effect the players.

Well they got 500,000 ticket applications for an 80,000 stadium so there is plenty of interest,i should know i applied for 2 but did'nt get any
The UK is ready for the NFL.
De Niro is right however in that there has'nt been a great deal of press coverage in the mainstream papers. I imagine that might change this week in the run up!

I'm sure the NFL compensated the home team financially, or else neither team would have dropped a home game.

BTW, this is my first post. BOO YAH!

I'm sure there'll be a lot of revenue from this game. What time EST will the game be played. I hope the English fans get a good game to see. Before the season started, you'd have thought this would have been a good game to see, but the Dolphins are very bad, and they are hurt.

A damn shame that ya poor Brits are going to be subject to the Dolphins of all teams. Sorry 'bout that.

Can't you just hear the fans going into some kind of soccer chant? Will there be hooligans at the game?

I heard that this morning. He was relieved to learn that English is spoken in London. The only thing he knew about London was that London Fletcher was a linebackerin the NFL.

I guess we have to brush up on geography. Sadly, he probably wasn't the only player, who didn't know where London was prior to this game being scheduled.

What an embarrassment of a game. Bad weather with probably the worst team the NFL has to offer. The statistical lines read like a high school game. Maybe yesterday's lackluster game will curb Goodell's enthusiasm of NFL expansion beyond the U.S.

I doubt it but it's true that the limeys got ripped off with that game.

Maybe they were happy with it, since they are used to all those low scoring soccer games. I wonder how many of the people at that game understood what was going on?

I didn't see no coverage of this game so can't really comment on the outcome/success of the game.

But i can agree with the weather..

The weather and that awful field made the game almost unwatchable. I thought it was funny that the crowd booed when the Giants ran the clock out. I guess they still don't understand American football.

Was the game on TV in the US? It wasn't on here in Salem. I seen on Regis & Kelly this morning that they had a streaker at the game.

Oh god it was a fantastically comical game. Those that know me on the board know I'm English and a big NFL fan. I'm as big a Steelers fan as you can get over here. Though this is the first year for about 6 years I'm missing a lot of the action.

Unfortunately I was never at the game (though I tried everything in my powers to get tickets). When half a million people requested them, it was a lottery as to how they were distributed.

But because of the hype I got to see it at the local sports bar and many incidents made it quite comical but the resiliance of the players and the strive to win stopped it from becoming an exhibition game. The weather nether helped and also the injuries the Dolphins have suffered has been unreal.
