GOODFELLAS, CASABLANCA, THE GODFATHER, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, JAWS, RAGING BULL, SINGIN" IN THE RAIN, THE WILD BUNCH, among many others.
Basically, any film that doesn't have any awkward pauses, where you say to yourself, "where did two-and-a-half hours go?"

Alcohol will mess with your mind. Steer clear of the nasty stuff.
Yeah, I'm giving anti-drug lectures now.
I'm also ordering a t-shirt that reads "hypocrite" across the chest and "ironic" across the back.
"Somebody told me when the bomb hits, everybody in a two mile radius will be instantly sublimated, but if you lay face down on the ground for some time, avoiding the residual ripples of heat, you might survive, permanently fucked up and twisted like you're always underwater refracted. But if you do go gas, there's nothing you can do if the air that was once you is mingled and mashed with the kicked up molecules of the enemy's former body. Big-kid-tested, motherf--ker approved."

My candidate is "Laura" (1944). Short (88 minutes), twisty plot, great performances, memorable score, not one word of dialog wasted. You're killing me, TB. I love that film! Vincent Price and Gene Tierney in their prime. Bravo!

I just saw Jaws on the big screen today. Fucking grubby as fuck print, though. I e-mailed the cinema the following:
Hello, I don't know if anybody else e-mailed you about this (I very much doubt it, actually), but I felt I must e-mail, irregardless. The Jaws print you screened today was atrocoious. Not only was it grubby (which in itself might have been expected and, at the least, watchable), but it clipped several moments out. A frame here and there on an old print might go without being noticed, but the fact is that this print in particular missed out one of the film's most iconic moments, that in which Brody (Roy Scheider) is looking over his shoulder towards the camera and the shark points its head out of the water. It's a shocking moment in the film, and it was completely missed out.
Frankly, as a paid member of the cinema, I find this unacceptable. Showing the film is fine, but charging the same amount as a normal, decent print is abysmal and - if we're fans of Cinema as a medium here - criminal. I'm president of the film society at my university (UEA), and unless the standard of prints-price proportion improves, I will not hesitate in the future to discourage people from attending Cinema City. In short, I felt it was completely unjustified to screen Jaws at the same price as other films, considering the state it was in.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Many thanks, Michael
