Very interesting Kly (and funny). I can only imagine the wide variety of people and lifestyles you must encounter. It probably helps you size people up, to a degree no? TIS Some of the people I represented were the nicest people you'd meet. At the same time there were others capable of cruelty that defies imagination. I've been asked about the worst person I ever represented, and he wasn't a murderer or rapist. Rather, he had an argument with his girlfriend, and to spite her, he woke up her three year old son, brought him downstairs, and held the boy's hand down on a stove burner on high. The police received calls from neighbors, who heard the boy's screams. This guy thought he should get probation, and couldn't understand why he was getting a an aggravated sentence. On a lighter note, I had a case involving a burlary with a homeless man. He would wander into a particular mall each night, hide in a dressing room of a large department store, and wait for the 10 pm guard to run his checks. He would then roll a tv into the bedding department, slip into a pair of brand new pajamas, take some food from the gourmet food section, and then go to bed while watching tv. He'd get up early and make the bed and put the tv back before hiding until the store opened. He'd mingle with the customers and leave, only to return at tnight. He did this for about a week until he was caught when he overslept. The judge was more amused by his antics and dismissed the case upon the guy's promise not to go back to the mall.

Klyd, Do you ever have dreams or nightmares about these people you represent? No, Mig. I haven't been a public defender since 1994, and have had only a handful of criminal cases since that time. After a while you get used to it. Sometimes I really miss it. Occasionally, I'll bump into a former criminal client, and we'll relive the old days. "Hey! Remember when you assaulted that guy with a wrench and he nearly died but then I managed to get the jury to believe it was self defense? Ahh good times!"

An example: Colonel Mustard, you old son of a gun. I haven't seen you since that incident with the lead pipe in the conservatory. How's Miss Scarlet doing, by the way?

I have a Capital One card which I very very seldom use (mostly when I travel, but not even so much then). Anyway, I got this letter yesterday that cracks me up: You never write. You never call. You never charge. What did we do? Or (gulp) not do? No holding back. This relationship is not working. But it's not you, it's us. So let's talk." Then it goes on to ask me to call for a card "upgrade". I thought it was funny. TIS

Beth, I just was gonna post the name of the bailbondsmen. Ha ha ha Only in Vegas. I remember a few years ago, on the strip in Vegas, they had a little mini mall with a store called "Condom-Mania". Ha ha ha Gotta love Vegas. TIS

I remember at school (many moons ago) i had a teacher called Mr. Cockburn whose name used to make me giggle.... Still does really Mr. Cockburn? Ouch My parents had an acquaintance with the last name of Sasso. Everyone called him asshole. He changed his last name to Bryant. TIS

UPDATE: A court official confirms Simpson will be brought before a judge next week on allegations that he violated terms of his bail.
Looks like he made contact with one of the witnesses, which is a no-no.

I knew a guy in college named James Class (Jim Class). I also had a friend named Robert Hertz.... no big deal there, but he had a brother named Richard (Dick Hertz). One of my dear friends from years back married a guy named Henry Kissinger. She's got some great stories of calling for restaurant reservations and getting the best table.
