It seemed to me that Scarface was a sort of cliched B-movie that just ended up falling togethor in the right way that it some how came out half way decent.

I try to just appreciate it for Pacino's performance, because without him it would've been written off as a ultra-violent drug movie and nothing more. I personally did hate the Untouchables because of its Spielbergian hollywood-ness, and some of the most horrible use of music I think i've ever witnessed.

Carlito's Way, in my opinion, is De Palma's best film by far. It seems as though he has finally mastered exactly how to make the camera work how he wants it to, he and Pacino seem to flow seamlessly togethor, and Sean Penn and Penelope Ann Miller don't hurt. Plus great music, convincing action, etc. etc.

In the end I would say...

- appreciate Scarface for what it is, but don't make it out to be a great film
- avoid the Untouchables like the devil
- see Carlito's Way multiple times

I dream in widescreen.
