I heard from my sister today (in Michigan). She works at a school and said that they haven't had a full week of school for the last three weeks, with at least a day off a week due to icy roads. The temp was -9 and the wind chill like -30. How awful.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PITTSBURGH HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING. THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

SNOW WILL CONTINUE INTO THIS AFTERNOON...MIXING WITH SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN BY LATE THIS AFTERNOON. EXPECT TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES...WITH ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO ONE TENTH INCH.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... SLEET... AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.
