A Save is really worth 3 points: +8 for the save, and -5 for the privilege. (I still find that awkward ) The problem is a Botched Save (-5) + Loss (-6) in an inning or less of work where the guy is already getting penalized for ERs and hits and walks, etc, for him to lose the game to begin with. That's how relievers (and our stats) get into trouble. A starter can pitch great into the 8th inning, then give up 1 run and lose it. He'll still get decent points, but not great points. A relieve (set-up guy OR closer) can pitch great for the first two batters, then fall apart, give up 1 run, botch the save, lose the game, and when it comes down to it, one bad pitch can nose-dive us into negative points! In the end, it doesn't really matter because we're all playing with the exact same points system, but something just seems wrong.... But since Plaw and others put infinitely more time and energy into the points system than I have, I'll just keep my mouth shut.

that's the problem. I never liked a pitching line like that
GS W L IP H R ER BB K FAN PTS
1 0 1 8 8 1 1 2 7 13
it's a huge difference in the points scored by the pitcher, even though the pitcher has no control of it. now, if he pitches really bad, there will be ER enough to show for.

A Save is really worth 3 points: +8 for the save, and -5 for the privilege. The way DS made changes it is now +8 for the save and -3 for the SVOP, so a save is worth 5 pts now instead of the 3 they were worth last year. However a hold is still worth only 1 pt. My point was that if we are making closers worth more why not setup men as well? Closers would be useless if the setup men didn't keep the game close enough for them to get a save. How often do starters really go 8 innings? Setup men are important, not as important as closers but we shouldn't widen the gap between the two. It was nice last year when closers were frustrating to turn to a setup man for stability because there are some really good setup men out there. Very true and very frustrating in the fantasy world as much as real life. That's just baseball. In the end, it doesn't really matter because we're all playing with the exact same points system, but something just seems wrong.... I agree, sort of... we could set every single stat to +1, regardless of it being a HR or a BB. Since we are playing by the same rules it wouldn't matter. But we need to make the fantasy game as close to the real life importance as possible and I think setup men are just as (or almost as) important to the team as closers or starters because they can blow a game for the team as well. Since both closers and setup men can take the same beating thanks to a loss, I think we should keep it close as far as points earned for saves and holds. Since a save is worth (after the math) 5 pts, maybe the hold category should be raised to 3? That still makes closers more important, but doesn't make setup men useless for the season.

Max teams: 9
We have 6 already, is this subject to increase if necessary? What did we consider as too many, I forget: 14? 12?

9 was perfect last year. All of the best players were gone in the draft but there were still some decent players that could help your team if someone was injured.

There should be a link that says something like "Join a Private League" -- or try "Get Another Team"

Cool, so now we're up to 7 people playing. I'm a little disappointed that a couple of other great members here on the board are too chicken to play with the rest of us. I won't name names though *CoughCough--DMC--Don Cardi--SnortCoughHork* <---- sorry about that... hairball. EDIT: *Cough-DMC--DC-Cough* Go ahead, make your excuses.

even giving 1 pts for them might be too much. Well, the RP does enter the game in a Save situation, so it should be worth something... See: Hold
