Had an "interview" where I worked a few minutes ago. I walked in and they offered me a job. Woooo.

Long as I remember The rain been coming down.

And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who'll stop the rain.

Er...should have said a few months ago, that I worked there.

Overnight stocking pays more than cashiering, that seems messed up to me but let's see how the stocking goes.

I woke up at 4 a.m. and haven't been able to fall back to sleep. Now I have to get the girls off to school and go to the office. This SUCKS.

I also woke up at 4am. I have the MLB ticket and get all the baseball games, and the Rockies were still playing the Padres in the 22nd inning, so I watched the end of the game.

If only I had known, Klyd, I could've had someone to talk to! I am running on fumes right now after a rather stressful day at work.

I've been watching the Pope's visit to the City today, and I gotta tell ya, Pope Benedict is quite a likeable person. Body language can't be faked and he is a genuinely open man.

All the local tv stations have been carrying his trips around the City today (including his address to the U.N. General Assembly) and its been a fun day of watching the coverage.

The Pope just attended a short ceremony at a synagogue (the first time a pope has attended a U.S. synagogue) and it was quite touching to see (and a little funny to see the Pope get a gift of matzoh, which he promised he'd eat tomorrow night - the first night of Passover).

I guess it is too late, but it is .41cents if its a standard size, they changed the rules this year, so if its still less than an ounce but oversized (like a large birthday card) they want more...

On Pacino... believe it or not he had a face lift a few years back, that really broke my heart, Brando would have never done that... I don't think its vanity as much as wanting to continue to get "younger" roles -- I would hate to think its about money as much as roles... he is hard to top himself at this point and/or probably has more money than anyone can imagine.

I have to work in about 2.5 hours, 4 hours, $11 an hour to cook for a bunch of old people.

I can't cook worth a shit.

I am putting my notice in at this job today since I got the overnight stocking job.

I have always had a problem with earphones until today. No earphone fits my ear... my ear structure is such that the earphones cannot rest and fall off unless I hold them to my ears manually. I always use headphones instead of earphones, but they can be a pain to carry. Last time I tried Sony earphone with a clip, which was just a waste of money as again it was designed for a typical ear. Today I found a Philips earphone with "flexible" ear clip, which seems to be fitting well as it can be twisted slightly around the ear to fit well.

Dunno if any of you watched the Pope's visit to Ground Zero this morning but it was QUITE touching. He said a prayer, lit a candle and spoke to about 20 individuals (family members of some of those who were killed and some political figures).

It was exciting for me to see one of my old bosses, Tony Coscia, now the head of the Port Authority, speak with the pontiff.

TIS, I don't know how much of the coverage you've watched, but Benedict is certainly no slouch in the charisma department. He may not have the "group" appeal that JP had but watching him do the "one-on-one" meetings I've concluded that Benedict is peerless.

I've been watching practically everything (full coverage on EWTN, he's at Yankee stadium right now), and must say Benedict has quite impressed me with his soft-spoken and sincere genuineness and happiness to be here. It really moves me, and I consider him an appropriate successor to the Great John Paul II.

So do I.

At first it was almost like Larry Holmes following Muhammad Ali, if that analogy is even appropriate. JP II was just so loveable and he was Pontiff for so long, Benedict was bound to catch a little criticism.

I think a lot of it has to do with his German roots. Germans have never been known for their "warmth," but if you think about it, neither have Poles. If you remember when JP II got the nod in '78, many were leery about a Polish Pope. Actually, any non-Italian Pope would have been frowned upon by many. He made believers of us all.

I haven't been able to watch a lot of it unfortunately. I did see his mass from St. Patrick's Cathedral and various clips. \:\/
I know he met with some of the sexual abuse victims which is good, but there needs to be a more forceful condemnation and punishmentIMHO.

Yogi, It's always hard to see one of your babies sick (and they're always our babies, aren't they?). I hope this takes care of Andrew's problem. Wish you all the best!

Yogi, I'm sorry to read that the boy needs surgery but from what I've read, its a relatively minor operation and painless. I'm sure you've already spoken with your doctor but here's a site (link below) that may be of interest to you.

Good luck!
