My sister Angel and I never miss an opportunity to use a Godfather reference. Last night at my mom's bd party my niece gave my mom a piece of cake, but she said it was too big. So I turned to Angel said in my best Hyman Roth imitation, "She wanted a smaller piece". Of course, no one knew what we were talking about. Then my brother in law was talking about a quota he had to get done at work, and remarked how his boss always said he made his money. So Angel and I in unison said, "He always makes money for his partners". I think our family is sick of us.

Beth, How is it your sister got named "Angel" and you did not??? Hu?? So, is she??? I could say GF lines all day to my family but they wouldn't get it. Well, I take that back. If I were to use "I'll make him an offer he can't refuse" line......that one they know. TIS

Ah heck, we could have the thing here in Valpo. Go gamble at the nearby casinos. Lake Michigan is right there, lots of awesome local restaurants, a Dillinger museum, downtown Chicago an hour away, and most importantly BARS.

I was REALLY bored yesterday and had too much time on my hands. I figured out that on April 10th of this year I was 500,000 hours old. That gives me an appreciation of how large a number a half million really is. To put it into a greater perspective, a second is a very short, almost unnoticeable period of time... if you added up ALL the seconds which I've been alive (to date) they would total 1,803,972,502. 1.8 billion .... its a number I almost can't imagine. Anyway, if you're bored, here's a link to a calculator that'll give you the basic numbers for your age (all you do is simply type in your birthday): CLICK HEREThe link suggests I was conceived on the 4th of July, 1950. I looked up the weather records for that day... temperature was fairly normal for the time of year but the day had some light rain. Could it be that my parents were celebrating a national holiday with a bang ( ) or simply stuck home on a rainy night and bored?

An old fashioned breakfast took me two minutes to make... a cheese omelette with some bacon and toast.
I bought the liquid eggs (Egg Beaters brand) and pre-cooked bacon (Boars Head brand) ... surprisingly not bad at all. It took me longer to eat the meal than to cook it.
I'm officially an instant gratifacation freak now. Since my kids both married and left, I must admit I too am all for "quick & easy" meals. I always use to make a nice dinners when they were growing up and still at home (of course when they became teenagers driving, they didn't eat at home many times). Not so much now. I recently discovered the Marie Collenders (?)frozen pot pies. Yep, pot pies. I love the crust and there is more than 2/3 pieces of meat in them. Last week I cooked a frozen beef stew dinner, which wasn't bad, and I always have a few hot pockets in my freezer. All that being said though, I STILL need a day or two a week for a home cooked meal which for instance today is Italiam breaded steak, mashed potatoes, salad. When I cook something like that (0r posta), I'll make enough for at least two days. I don't really want to get where I NEVER cook, because I do like cooking, but damn, I love the "easiness" of throwing something in the microwave after a long day and drive home from work. TIS

I know exactly what you mean. I TRY to cook regular meals twice a week (they're better for me, they're cheaper, and most of the time they taste better) but I've become increasingly more open to the "quickies" that are being sold now.

Plus, when you are cooking only for yourself, the pleasure/desire to cook "good" meals isn't as much fun IMHO. When I have the family over it's nice hearing, "this is great mom" or "good, mom's making this or that or whatever". It's nice getting a little compliment on your work, know what I mean??? It's just not the same telling myself, "Hey, this is great!" Ha ha ha TIS
