SC, They have been showing that story on the news with video. It's so unbelieveable to me. The woman clearly is laying face down. You see people/staff literally pass her by. Not to mention a security guard peek from around a corner and does NOTHING!! It sounds so cliche' but really, what is the world coming to? I mean, in a hospital??? Normally that would make one feel safe, even if in the waiting room, knowing you'll be getting treated soon. Remember the guy hit by a car (I forgot what state) and people drove and walked right by him? TIS

Not to mention a security guard peek from around a corner and does NOTHING!! TIS, that hospital is probably one of the busiest in the City and I'm sure a lot of the staff is overworked. BUT STILL, this happened in the wee hours and it wasn't busy there then. Like you said, it's clearly obvious that some workers saw the woman just lying there, yet did nothing. I sure hope I'd get better treatment if I was in an Emergency Room.

Yesterday, two blocks away from where she lived, a 5 foot boa constrictor was found in somebody's backyard. Where can I get one of them? The garter snakes in my backyard just aren't keeping the moles away. The Dallas zoo brought a penguin*, boa and a turtle to our workplace last month and gave away free passes for the zoo. I was allowed to touch/hold the boa. It was a bit sticky * I never imagined that they would survive in Dallas heat.

The Beach Boys are giving a free concert on the Atlantic City beach in front of the Hilton on Friday, July 4th! You going to the concert? I heard something about a free Bon-Jovi concert in New York just before the All-Star game. They're also giving a parade in which all living Hall-of-Famers are invited to participate in.

But you forgot to put quotation marks around "The Beach Boys" I heard something about a free Bon-Jovi concert in New York just before the All-Star game. I was thinking about going to this... I did see Paul Simon's show there (in Central Park), though... a madhouse! So maybe not... lol

Gas price protester gets fine, probation
July 4, 2008 Recommend (1)
By James D. Wolf Jr. Post-Tribune correspondent
VALPARAISO -- If the man who sang protest songs about gasoline costs from the top of a gas station tries it again, he'll be singing Sam Cooke's "Chain Gang" next, Judge David L. Chidester said Thursday.
Chidester sentenced Jerry "Jay" Weinberg, 29, of Valparaiso, to six months of unsupervised probation in exchange for a guilty plea to misdemeanor trespassing.
He will also have to pay a $1,000 fine, but the prosecution dropped a disorderly conduct charge as part of the plea.
As part of his statement, Weinberg read a lengthy, page-long speech about the country's dependency on fossil fuels.
The statement also addressed freedom of speech and world concerns.
Weinberg made news when he climbed on top of the Family Express at 204 Silhavy Road on May 5 just before 5 p.m. and sang a protest song, which is now available online.
According to court documents, Weinberg's chanting, singing and yelling through a megaphone cause traffic blockage in the Silhavy and LaPorte Avenue intersection and also blocked the Family Express entrance

No last ditch efforts to break the window glass? That's what I thought until I read that the old man was so infirm that he wasn't even able to open the car door (or roll down the window). Apparently his wife (who was in the car also) was also unable to do anything to save her husband. Don't get me wrong - I feel for the son. He evidently was doing his best to support his parents but why couldn't he just leave them in a library or a shopping mall, or something like that?

I have been "half" watching the Christie Brinkley updates. I heard the other day that her daughter, Alexis (Hers & Billy Joel's) testified and said that he had changed after the marriage and one time pulled her (Alexis) out of the shower naked and made her pick up a messy room. As a mother, that alone would send me into a rage. Poor Christie can't get it right after 4 marriages. TIS

Re: An elderly man dies after being locked in a car in the daytime heat - From Peekskill, NY, a 48 year old man left his parents locked in his car while he went off for three hours to drive a bus (his job). When he returned, his father was apparently unconscious and died from heat-related issues. The son had reportedly left his parents in various locations in the past (while he went to work), and this act wasn't intended to cause harm to his parents (but he has to suffer from terminal stupidity to do something like this).
I agree with you, SC, and feel sorry for the bus driver, but can't help thinking about his poor judgment. Do you know of a reason why the parents couldn't stay at his home for the three hours? It seems so avoidable. It reminded me of the stories where parents would accidentally leave their infants in the car, only to return to the car, horrified to find their dead child. This scenario usually involved a father, who normally did not take the baby to daycare, forgetting to stop at the daycare and driving straight to work. An innocent mistake, but oh, the gravity of the consequences.

Do you know of a reason why the parents couldn't stay at his home for the three hours? No.... the stories I heard on radio and what I read online don't say WHY the parents couldn't be left alone at home. What makes this all a little more confusing is that the print story claims the mother went to a nearby atrium and waited for a while in the air conditioning. If that's true and she was able to get out of the car, why didn't she just leave the car door open??

TIS I think her exact testimony was her shower created a leak, and he dragged her out of the shower, dunked her head in the bucket where the water was dripping at and told her to clean the mess. The fact that this girl is not his daughter and he dragged her somewhere naked should be child abuse at least. Yeah, Billy should get this guy in a headlock and bash his head into the side of a mack truck.

Well, that makes a horrible story even worse. That's definitely child abuse. TIS

This isn't exactly in my city, but happened this morning in L.A. I only wish I could have seen all of this car chase. Evidently the police were chasing 3 burglary suspects who had taken off by car. When I tuned in, they were chasing the car down the freeway, and later the car exited the freeway. Next, the car loses one of it's tires. I didn't realize you could drive as far as they did on 3 tires. Anyway, the suspects left the car and started running. (I guess two got away, I only saw the one person). As he was running down the street, he started to lose his pants so he was holding them as he was running. THEN....neighborhood dogs started chasing him. I was cracking up. The guy I saw eneded up on rooftops of homes. That's the last I saw. This article is very very short, but all I could find. Anyway, it was funny. StoryTIS

The local newspaper runs "celebrity news" on p.2. They had a little story on why Diane Keaton has always been single. The headline read: "Keaton: Mr. Right Never Came."
I sent it to Jay Leno with a comment: "...but I bet he had fun trying." Ha ha ha!!!! Ok, I had to read it twice. Very funny. TIS
