That reminds me of a joke I saw on tv this weekend with Larry the cable guy. He and his sister were at a flea market. Yahoo says 97°F ("feels like 101°F / 38°C") but my old thermometer says a chill 92°... I left the AC on all night and it still feels warm in here. I am NOT looking forward to my electric bill next month.  How the hell is it 10° hotter here than in Florida??

Keep your fingers crossed. Do you have a window unit or central air? Window unit. I have it set to 70° so the compressor doesn't have to go on/off too frequently. This is the fifth year I've had it, so hopefully it'll make it through another season. What's bad is that my apartment is on the top floor of a house, and it's right under the roof. My landlord's place (downstairs) is a LOT cooler. I don't have any a/c in my living room and it's currently 89° in there (even with a ceiling fan going). My cat and I have camped out in the bedroom for the past three days. He still insists on cuddling next to me in bed (but I don't really mind).

I'm on the top (second) story as well. It's nice in the Winter, but not so much with days like this. I have in-wall units as well, one in my "office" and one in my living room. My kitchen gets hot as hell cuz the air doesn't reach. My bedroom faces the east so by bedtime it's not too bad then, but it does get bad when the sun starts pounding down in the morning...

We have a heat pump and the a/c is pretty good in the house. The basement, which is exposed, stays nice and cool and the ground floor is pretty comfortable. On the second floor our two front bedrooms get the warmest as they face the afternoon sun. We often need to keep a fan on at night for my son.
