I feel the same way SC. Tiger is probably going to have another 10 of these... how many more chances does a guy like Rocco have? Mediate showed so much class and intestinal fortitude that it was hard to root against him (even though I wanted to see Tiger win). At age 45, this was probably Rocco's last realistic shot at winning a major.

A friend from work were talking hypothetically if the PGA used the half-assed scheduling system used by David Stern in the NBA playoffs. You had a great U.S. Open and, as we know, it went to a tie breaker playoff format. Imagine if after 3 holes of the 18 hole playoff, they decided that was enough and took a 2 hour break. Then Tiger & Rocco resumed, in primetime, and played another 5 holes. Nothing was decided because it was an 18 hole playoff and then they took the following day off. Then they got to the 17th hole and decided that it was not dramatic enough, so they ran 2 hours worth of PGA promos and then finished the 18th hole.
That is how absurd the NBA system would look like in another sport.

I've had enough of Boston sports teams for quite some time, thank you very much. It was good for baseball in 2004 for the Sox to win, given the 86 year drought. Now it's too much with all 3 teams in their title game during the past year. Go away for another 86 years, Boston, and we'll call you when we're ready. I couldn't agree more.

Curt Schilling and the Red Sox announced that Schilling will have season ending shoulder surgery. This very likely will end his career with 216 wins against 146 losses.
I believe that Schilling, despite having fewer wins than deserving pitchers like Jim Kaat, Bert Blyleven and Orel Hersheiser, will make it to Cooperstown. He has over 3,100 strikeouts and was regarded as a dominating pitcher throughout the mid-1990s to the 2000s. Most importantly, he was absolutely brilliant in the post-season, going 11-2 with a 2.23 ERA in 19 games with three different teams. He also pitched in 4 world series, winning the last three. Some may argue that because he didn't win a Cy Young Award, he shouldn't get in, but he had several years where he could have won it.
It was no coincidence that the Red Sox broke their 86 year championship drought the year Schilling arrived.
Yes, he was brash, cocky, and some would say obnoxious, but he knew how to come up big in the big game.

Word around these parts is that John Gibbons's days managing the Blue Jays may be coming to an end. I'm not 100% sure but I THOUGHT I saw a screen crawl on my local news that Gibbons was fired.

I honestly wasn't counting on him doing much for the Sox this year, but still you hate to hear news like that. I really don't know if he'll make the Hall (of Fame). He had some awesome seasons and yes, his post-season play was outstanding, but his "totals" were marginal. His bloody sock should be put in, though.

Interesting discussion on the Colts message boards...
Peyton Manning is more clutch than Tom Brady when 4 or more points are needed.
Let me say that I genuinely like Peyton. But there is no way he is more clutch than Brady in any situation. Super Bowl appearances: Brady 4, Peyton 1 Super Bowl wins: Brady 3, Peyton 1 With the exeption of 2007, Peyton had always had a ton more skill positions at his disposal than Brady, which makes Brady's feats all the more impressive. Peyton came up short when the Colts had more talent than just about anyone else except in 2006. Brady took his team and scored the winning drive with less than 2 minutes in two separate Super Bowls. Brady was 1:00 short of finishing a perfect season, which was not made imperfect by any huge mistake by Brady.

Those drives you mentioned are when he needed 3 points and are not relevant to the 4 points or more debate. And throwing an INT isn't a huge mistake by Brady?

The team with the best interleague record this year? The Kansas City Royals at 10-3. And the team with the worst interleague record? (First place) Philadelphia. EDIT: I take that back... it's the Giants. Never mind. [/Emily Latella]

I read in the paper that Schilling's surgery went well. There was a screen crawl on tv here that doctors said he'd be up and pitching by the new year. You think he'll come back??
