If the Democrat-controlled Congress is stopping the repeal of off-shore drilling, why didn't the Republicans do anything about it when they were in control for 6 years??? Because the loony liberals [insert ridiculous reason for Democrats destroying society as we know it here] Eat Babies Cowardly while in France? I must say, O'Reilly and others need to come up with some fresh, new, mint-flavored talking points for Colbert to mock.

If the Democrat-controlled Congress is stopping the repeal of off-shore drilling, why didn't the Republicans do anything about it when they were in control for 6 years??? Actully, the Republicans have controlled Congress since 1994. But they didn't have the votes to override a Presidential veto during the Clinton administration. For the last 6 years however, with a Republican President, they didn't need any such votes. Like I tell my students, Republican or Democrat, the US Congress is a political entity and operates in a political world. That sounds kind of "Duh", but some people just refuse to understand that.

Hundreds Of Gallons Of Gas Stolen Thursday, June 19, 2008 2:31 PM Updated: Thursday, June 19, 2008 7:08 PM
LEWIS CENTER, Ohio — The Delaware County Sheriff's Office released surveillance photos on Thursday of fuel being stolen at a gas station.
According to the sheriff's office, fuel from the Speedway station located on U.S. 23 was stolen three times since March 30. The other incidents occurred on May 12 and June 3.
Sheriff Walter Davis said that the thefts are believed to be connected.
Thieves stole 524 gallons of diesel fuel, valued at $2,483, Davis said.
Surveillance taken from the gas station showed a white minivan pulling up to the diesel fuel storage cap, opening the cap and siphoning fuel from the underground storage tank into a bladder in the van. Another car parked between the van and the gas station, blocking the view of the attendants.
"There are increasing reports of fuel thefts all over the country," Davis said. "The sheriff's office will be vigilant in finding and arresting anyone in connection to these or any fuel thefts. They are serious crimes."

Who here is old enough to remember when people started syphoning gasoline from cars during the energy crisis? It's only a matter of time before it begins to happen once again. Mark my words.
Don Cardi Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

I read recently about a car dealership that had it's above-ground gas tank emptied some time between when it closed on Saturday evening and reopened on Monday morning. If I recall, it happened TWICE. Something like that happened on Long Island. Geez... it used to be that guys would hold up gas stations for the money. Now, they're stealing the gas!

OK, time for me to watch THE ROAD WARRIOR again to get some "tips" for this new world of ours.

I get a laugh out of how the auto-makers are now advertising some of their less fuel-efficient models now. Hyundai is now proud to advertise that one of their SUV models gets a whole 23 MPG!! Wow!! 23 MPG!!! Lets all run out a buy one! (It MAY be decent mileage for an SUV, but still... 23 MPG as a big selling point?) Another manufacturer (can't honestly remember which one it is) is happily advertising that you can ride 500 miles on a tankful of gas. WOW!!! 500 miles!!! What they don't tell you is the car has a 22 gallon tank!! Give them 10 years to catch up with the true idea of this fuel crisis.

I was in Lorain, Ohio last night. The sign said 3.86 but the pump said 3.82. Weird. But here in Salem today it's 3.91-3.97
