I've got something to say. I have been excited about this for a couple weeks now BUT I also feel a little guilty.

Ok, next month is my birthday (No, I don't want any acknowledgement) and for about two months now both my daughters have been saying that I'm gonna just "love" what they are getting me. The only hint they gave me was to dress comfortably. I was baffled.

Well, the other day my daughter was over my house, wanted to check her e-mail, so she got on my computer and did so. She has a Yahoo address as I do. She checked, we talked, she left.

When I went to check my e-mail later that day, I see she forgot to logout of hers and her message page was open. Not only that, but I see one is from Blockbuster. She wasn't going to any concert/play or whatever that I knew of and was curious. Dun da da dun (Dragnet). I cheated!!! I opened the e-mail It was just a quick impulse.

Both my daughters bought 3 tickets to see Rod Stewart (whom they know I have always loved) at the Pond in Anaheim. I am not only thrilled to death to see the concert, BUT really touched that they'd spend the money for two extra tickets for themselves to see someone, not from their era and although they do not hate him, they never understood why I liked his raspy voice.

So, every now and then the mention it with that gleam in their eyes telling me that they are so pleased they did this, and I play dumb. Am I bad?????? Should I continue to play dumb or fess up?

I would continue to play dumb. I'm sure your daughters are excited that they are giving you this lovely surprise, so having them think you don't know may be part of their thank you.

Don't know how old, but has to be in his 60's at least. I have seen him before (about 10 yrs ago) and he got around just fine. He's the kind of voice that I think doesn't sound different in time, know what I mean?

But yea, anyway, I am so looking forward to it. The girls did tell me they are taking me to dinner first. It'll be a great "girls night out".

You obviously know your daughters, TIS. If you think they'd be upset that the surprise was ruined, then say nothing. If you think they'd get a laugh out of HOW you found out, then tell them. I know YOU'D feel better coming clean.

You have to act surprised TIS. I'm sure the idea of your daughters doing this for you will be more exciting than hearing the music (to your daughters, not you). Maybe confess after the night is over, but let them think you are surprised is my advice.

I always loved the 1980s song he did with Jeff Beck with the cover version of "People Get Ready." I'm not a huge Rod Stewart fan, particularly his 90s material, but I do like his unique voice and his material from the 60s, 70s and early 80s.

As much as I love Louis Armstrong's version, I also am blown away by Rod's version of "What a wonderful world". He's still got the chops.

I have many many favorites. Maggie May is most definitely at the top of my list. I love "Reason to Believe" and "Young Turks" and yes, "Do You Think I'm Sexy." Gosh, there are so many. In recent years Rod has had several albums with oldtime "Classics" like "The Way You Look Tonight" and even more oldtime music. He sounds good, but I prefer his hits. I will definitely enjoy it without a doubt.
