It's strange, I was about 750 points behind JL and was able to make up a big gap in a relatively short period of time, but for the last month or so I've been stuck at that same range of about 250-350 points behind. I must have gone through a very hot streak and have now settled in.

Plus I'm tired of leap-frogging with GB, 2nd and 3rd lol

Honestly I don't see any of us catching JL. I had hope until this point, but today I'm having doubts.

I went though a period where my RP's were either hurt, or not getting anyone out. They've seemed to straightened themselves out. We'll see. There's still s few weeks left.

I'm still trying to catch JG (or whoever he's trading places with) for 7th place. I was within 100 points but my team has trailed back again.

WTF! mad

American League home run leader Carlos Quentin has a broken right wrist stemming from his own temper, and the Chicago White Sox left fielder will have surgery Monday that could sideline him for the rest of the season. Quentin was injured Monday night in Cleveland. After fouling off a pitch while batting against Cliff Lee, Quentin hit his right hand on the bat as he was holding it with his left.

Saw a rumor of that Milwaukee and San Francisco is considering a trade that sends Prince Fielder and J.J. Hardy to the Giants for Matt Cain. It was supposedly reported by Peter Gammons.

Hear this on your end, BL?

I've heard it but I've also heard Milwaukee probably wouldn't give up both players for Cain.

Honestly I would be sad to see Cain go. He has endured so much as a Giant in his short career, mainly no run support*, and he just came out and said he wants to stay with the team because it's the only team he has ever known and he wants to be apart of the turnaround. He's such a good person and is still young and could end up being a really good pitcher that I would be sad to see him go.

On the business side though... Prince Fielder, wow. I think if the Giants get Fielder and some good prospects it would be worth it. I don't know about Hardy, especially since GM Brian Sabean has said that of all the youngsters to get a shot this year, Emmannuel Burriss is most likely to get an everyday job next year at shortstop for the long future. Also, if they trade Cain the Giants still have Madison Bumgarner and Tim Alderson waiting in minors.

I'm going on and on about this but it's exciting. The Giants desperately need a slugger going into next year.

* I heard a stat (I would need to look it up again to be accurate) that Cain has received one or no runs in over %50 of his starts. That's just wrong.

at a first glance I thought it was crazy but when you take a deep look at the stats, no it isn't. Cain has already logged 3 200 IP seasons with a sub 4 ERA at age 23 while Fielder seems like he just might have had a career year last season.

the idea is good but I believe the Giants could go after an even better player.

the run support thing with Cain is just ridiculous. and I know it's all my fault for drafting him 2 years in a row.

Mr Commish., It may be time to get ready to enforce the pitching limits. I'm not sure how many people are still playing, and/or paying attention to their SP limit. I noticed almost everyone only has a few games left.

Commissioner Reminder...

Nearly everyone is within 5 - 10 games of the 162 game starting pitching limit. Please watch your starts and when you reach 162 (you can see how many you have under the "GS" column in "Full Standings"), please bench all your pitchers who start games.

As of this morning (9/22/08), each player has the following number of starts remaining:

JL - 3
BL - 3
GB - 5
FC - 6
CG - 7
BB - 12
DB - 5
JG - 10
TM - 12
AP - 5
BR - 0

I still can't believe I'm going to win. 15 of my current players were waiver pick-ups, and I only have 1 SP left on my roster that I drafted.

Quit bragging. tongue

You've done a great job this year with your pick-ups, especially with your timely SP pick-ups. I'm not surprised you won.

The weird part was, I'd keep losing starting pitchers to injury, and then the pitcher I'd pick up on waivers would out-pitch the injured SP. smile

Eh... GB now has 163 pitching starts. I only bring this up because I am trying to finish in second place and that extra start could be the difference by the end of the season. I know JL will win, but I would rather finish second than third.

What happens now DB? I'm not sure he understood the pitching start rule... frown

DB needs to adjust GB's roster now, and I say subtract the points from... hmm, the most (24) or least (15) successful pitcher of the day? Tough call! Not sure how I'd handle that, or how it's been handled in the past. I know BR has 163 starts, but being in 10th Place that doesn't matter. Commish? wink

Maybe make a decision now on how many pts to deduct, and only implement that IF necessary at the end...?

Re: GB's extra start
Since GB went over the 162 start limit, I will be subtracting A.J. Burnett's 24 point game (the highest points from his last 3 starts) from his final total.

I suppose Monday's "If Necessary" games won't be counting here?

Quote:
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Baseball runs throughout the entire 2008 baseball regular season, which begins on Tuesday, March 25 and is scheduled to end on Sunday, September 28.

...or will those games "turn on" if/when they're actually scheduled?

It looks like that extra pitching start from GB didn't matter for me, I'll finish in 3rd anyway.

Here's an official congratulations to you JL! I can't believe how well your waiver pickups did time after time... very impressive. Are you the first repeat winner of this league?

Thanks. Sometime it's better to be lucky than good. I don't know what the records are for our Yahoo Baseball League. We actually haven't been playing Yahoo that long. JG probably knows.
