Yeah, and he confirmed that the world wasn't flat. I think the day is in recognition of the spirit of discovery. The spirit that led to the "discovery" of the New World. Sure many atrocities followed, but atrocities have plagued humankind all over the world and still do today. To quote our favorite movie, "if history has taught us anything"......people kill people for stupid reasons. So Christopher, my hats off to you for having the balls to see if there really was something else out there besides water.
