Okay, so, now that I've recuperated... grin

Last week a company representing Nike contacted me out of the blue to see if I was able to film my old high school's football team practices and edit together a short video, with player interviews, for their pep rally yesterday before their huge rivalry game on Friday. Apparently Nike has been doing this nationwide, and the people I worked with had been "on tour" for like 3 months. Cool stuff, especially since it was at my old stomping grounds - and they didn't even know I went there!

It was pretty surreal walking those halls again. Nothing's really changed except the year after I graduated they had moved the cafeteria (creating an art wing or something) and enhancing the gym area. I even ran into a couple teachers I had in the 80s! eek It was a lot of fun (and certainly different than filming weddings), and the 6-minute video was shown at the 2 pep rallies yesterday. Not my best work -- I had to do it the night before, and was up 'til 4am -- but it seemed to go over pretty well in front of the entire student body. cool

I volunteered to film the 2 pep rallies as well, since Nike wants to see how it went. Anyway, that's why I haven't been around much the past week! And that should explain the couple seemingly cryptic posts I've made about it. lol

Will we be able to see the film or does someone else own the rights?

It's not really for public viewing since there were no release forms signed by the students, nor does it really belong to me... but maybe one day I'll do a short demo version...

That sounds like a fun assignment Geoff. Did your former teachers remember you? Gosh, remember pep rallies?

You must be pretty darn good at what you do. But then, I'm not surprised. wink

He - (Simón Bolívar) - was shaken by the overwhelming revelation that the headlong race between his misfortunes and his dreams was at that moment reaching the finishing line. The rest was darkness. "Damn it," He sighed. "How will I ever get out of this labyrinth!"

So what’s the labyrinth?

That’s the mystery isn’t it? Is the labyrinth living or dying? Which is he trying to escape - the world, or, the end of it?

When I was in school, pep rallies meant either 1) Hey, no class this period! -or- 2) Hey, I'm going home early! whistle lol

I mentioned to the principal that I recognized my old history teacher who had entered the library, so he went in after him. I'm like, oy, that's not what I meant! lol But he came out and seemed to remember me, and held like a 5 minute conversation and all, so maybe he did. He looked exactly the same, too! We used to make fun of him, thinking he had a toupee or something. And OMG, this guy's hair in the front was HUGE the other day, I have no idea WTF is going on there! haha

Anywho - today was The Big Game. They actually hired me again for more video coverage, which was cool, cuz I got an All Access pass -- I was right on the sidelines for half the game with the team and coaches! Unfortunately my alma mater lost 20-6, but it was a lot of fun regardless. I also got to rub elbows with the hosts on MaxPreps (CBS Sports) who cover high school sports -- this game was their national feature of the week, and their site should be updated soon enough w/ their own video and all.

But what a feeling it is to have 100s of people looking at YOU and cheering and screaming! Just put a video camera in your hand and a pass around your neck, pump your fists, and you'll get more cheers than any cheerleaders could ever evoke! lol Number One question of the night: "Are we on TV right now?" lol

As for Nike, they're great. The first day I wore my (very comfy) Converse cuz my Nikes just aren't all that comfortable to me. The next two days I did wear my Nikes and I mentioned "hey, I normally don't wear these - my Converse are so much more comfortable on me" and the guy said no problem, Nike bought out Converse a few years ago, so no problem! Sweet. I wore the Converse tonight! grin Anyway, I was hired to film the NIKEiD. booths -- they allow people to customize their sneaker colors... pretty cool, and it seemed pretty popular.

Hopefully next year they'll be back in town, cuz this past week was a blast! cool

OK, here are the rules:

Cream cheese on a bagel is delicious, but NOT with Jelly. The only thing appropriate on a bagel with cream cheese is either chives, scallions or lox.

Cream cheese and grape jelly (note that it must be GRAPE jelly) is wonderful together, but only on squishy white bread, like Wonder or maybe Arnold Country White.

Peanut Butter is great on toast and even better on a toasted English Muffin. However, it must be spread on the toast immediately upon removal from the toaster so that it gets all melty (same rule applies for butter).

lol

When I'm having eggs or an omelette out, I always order rye toast, and don't use the jelly. I like jelly or marmalade on toast, but not with eggs.

I like the Arnold Country White bread, but prefer their oat nut bread or wheat for peanut butter. I know what you mean about the "squishy" bread being good though.
