As for The DaVinci Code, yes it was a fiction novel written to sell books. However, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Peter and the other apostles had conspired against Mary to keep the power to themselves. The apostles were very competitive about Jesus. They wanted to be most special to him. And they were entrusted with building His following. That's sort of a power trip. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that a male-centric Church had maligned Mary in order to keep her legacy a secret.

Since we only have the Bible to go by, who knows what really happened back then. So, you're hypothesis is possible.

Along those lines I've written a novella about Jesus father actually being raised by a Roman soldier. It's based on the rumor that a soldier by the name of Pantera was Jesus' real father. But in my novella, it turns out that jesus is actually the son of Tiberius and Pilate crucifies him to keep the secret.

Ah, but the Bible as we know it is only what the apostles WANTED us to see. There was plenty written that didn't make it into the Bible. So, what we have accepted as gospel (pun intended) may only be a tiny piece.

The Bible is one of the most tainted and doctored pieces of literature known to man. It has been changed, added to etc etc for years and years,

Same with the Quaran (SP) and all the other "Rules to live by and not burn in Hades" Books.

I don't think that's true. I remember hearing about other "documents" found that were not in the bible that talk about the man Jesus coming to speak and crowds of people form all over came to listen. It was supposedly real writings discovered that confirmed that the man Jesus existed. Whether you want to believe he is the son of God is up to you, but Jesus was quite an influence on people.

I wish I had more backup on that, I've heard it several times from people and sources I trust...
