Isn't the quote something like "You can get a lot farther with a smile and a gun than just a smile"?

Hey Yogi Join me and LN in da Bing

He - (Simón Bolívar) - was shaken by the overwhelming revelation that the headlong race between his misfortunes and his dreams was at that moment reaching the finishing line. The rest was darkness. "Damn it," He sighed. "How will I ever get out of this labyrinth!"

So what’s the labyrinth?

That’s the mystery isn’t it? Is the labyrinth living or dying? Which is he trying to escape - the world, or, the end of it?

Noone's yet posted about the JFK Assassination anniversary.

Any comments?

Here's a clip that I don't remember seeing. It's Dallas station breaking into the program live as the assassination happened. It goes on into an interview with Zapruder, who captured the assassination on his 8 mm film. He never kept a copy of the film he took. eek

On a lighter note, look how different broadcasts were then? Old fashioned telephones, smoking at the desk...just bare necessities, nothing high tech. lol

Technology is slowly making mincemeat out of JFK assassination conspiracy theories. There was a recent documentary that showed how precise replicas of JFK's skull had been shot at from all angles. The one that would have been shot from the grassy knoll would have come out the other side of the President's skull and struck Jackie.

TIS, I remember seeing reruns of that Zapruder interview. I also have a tape of the news reports of the assassination that one of my students gave me.

How is it possible for a guy of my size to drink a bottle of wine and barely feel anything?

You Easterners (SC,DC,Geoff, etc) ever hear of a radio show called "Car Talk"? I think it originates from Mass. but I'm not quite sure. It's on NPR evey Saturday. They give advice on all kinds of car problems and how to fix it type things.

Anyway, I've never seen these two guys (I think they're brothers). They are actually very funny. I love their accents. Everytime I hear them I think of the BB confusedOne of the guys for some reason reminds me of DC and together SC/DC (sounds like AC/DC). lol They kind of make the show fun. Believe me, for me to listen to anything about car repair, it has to be halfway good. lol

Geoff,

OMG! That's it. eek Play the short little clip and listen to them. They make me laugh. Actually I don't listen on-line. When I'm driving to my daughters' it's usually on.

For instance, they may have someone call in from hicktown USA saying he/she had a 2000...whatever car......They'd say something like, "first of all why in the world would you buy a ...." and the way they say it is funny and nobody is insulted.

I find when it's on, I use to turn the channel cause I hate those kinds of programs, but these guys grow on you. lol And, if I'm not mistaken, I think they are Italian (always a plus) grin

Wow, we recently just passed the half-million post mark! (500169 right now, though we really passed it much earlier since I used to have to delete old posts to make room)

Sickeningly, over 10% of them were by Irishman! eek whistle

I'm in the process of deleting 2000 emails from my university account. Jeez. I kept a few like an 8 page paper on luck vs. skill in poker I wrote a few years ago and stories I've written and whatnot...

Seems wordy, though. It pretty much boils down to this: You can only go so far w/ poker skill, but luck can make or break anyone. wink

It's pretty repetitive, I could have done a much better job on it.

I had a dream that a bunch of us were together and that we were having dinner at Geoff's. JG, you lived in an apartment in a two family home and had a rather large kitchen. You were all smoking, too, which made me very jealous.

There were boxes of pizza on the counter, I guess as an appetizer, and you were making ravioli in an alfredo sauce for dinner. I just remember diving into the pizza because I was STARVING.
