I had a dream that a bunch of us were together and that we were having dinner at Geoff's. JG, you lived in an apartment in a two family home... Well, I think that's all great except the apartment part: I'm trying to get out of mine! If I get the house I want, y'all are invited for pizza and ravioli - but smokers will be out in the garage or deck.

Nice dream SB. I didn't know Geoff cooked.  Geoff, House prices here have totally taken a dive. The 2/2 home I sold for almost 300,000 is now foreclosed and they are asking 76,500.  Can you freekin' believe it? I laughed at the fact that I sold the dump (not really a dump, but for that price). I knew it was ridiculous, but that's what it appraised at. Fortunately, unlike most people, I moved "down" in terms of space. I just had to think of "me." Therefore, I think I was smart to put a large sum down and have a lower payment on my condo, which btw, is in a very desirable area. I am at least not upside down on my mortgage.  I am in a condo (apartment conversion to condo) and I love it. It is absolutely for me. I hate yard work and outside maintenace type thing. This was a good move on my part. TIS

I had a dream last night, I was going to jail and you had to empty your pockets and put your money in a different slot that the rest of it. You then had to say your name and where you're from and I screwed it up and said Indiana, Valparaiso. Then I forgot to put my wallet in the slot with the other stuff and I opened it and it had a swiss army knife in it. I gave it to this official guy and he put it up on a shelf.
I went to the other part and saw a popcorn machine and some friends of mine I haven't seen in awhile. We shook hands and talked. It looked like a restaurant in there. Dark, booths. I said "What's everyone bitching about, it's pretty nice in here!" Flat screen TVs and and everything.
And then my alarm went off and I got ready for my job interview.
It went well, but she may not hire anyone until January. She said she would call other stores in the district to see if they needed someone.

Post-Tribune staff report
Round the Clock is offering free Thanksgiving meals next week, continuing a tradition going back nearly 30 years.
This year's meal will be served from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday at the restaurant, 217 E. Lincolnway in Valparaiso.
Last year's event took place at the Round the Clock in Chesterton. Over the past four years, restaurant management rotates the free-meal events between Chesterton and Valparaiso.
Owner Dino Christodoulakis started the tradition.
Originally, the free meals served the elderly and those who had no place to go on the holiday. Over the years, the event evolved to serve the general public as a way to thank customers.
Last year at Chesterton, more than 650 people were served. Restaurant managers are expecting a record turnout this year due to the tough economy.
Attendees will have a choice of turkey or ham dinner, soup or salad, coffee or a cold beverage, and a slice of pumpkin pie.
Seating is first-come, first-served. Early seating and reservations will not be available and carry out is not allowed.

Crap. I guess that "2007" on my inspection sticker is the expiration date, not the last-inspected date. I just checked online and my car hasn't been inspected since Jan 2005. ...I thought it seemed like a while.  But at least this year I put my new insurance card right into my wallet instead of driving around without it for 2 months before I found it under a pile of papers!! Edit: Holy shit, WTF is my problem??!!! I just looked at my registration card it is expired last June!! WTF??! C'mon, I know I renewed it! I think. I really need a secretary or soemthing. Edit 2: Dammit. I just called the DMV and it is expired. I have to go in person to renew it as it's been more than 3 months.

Gee Geoff, you must have a lot on your mind. You'll do real well when you're my age. What is an inspection sticker???? A smog inspection?? I always immediately put the DMV/Ins. renewals in my car/wallet. If I set them down, I'd probably forget too. Hey, you need a secretary, that's what I do. I'd expect paid airfare, luxury apartment and an all-expense paid credit card (all at your expense of course) Oh, and unlike Mig, I won't go thru your closets. (I wonder if that girl likes to cross dress or something) Then, what would that be? Putting on a suit and tie. That's so not fun. Okay, I'm done. TIS

Do you have any idea how lucky you are not to have tickets up the wazoo, Geoff?? Geez!! No kidding. I let my inspection sticker expire two years ago and I got a ticket within a few days (the county cops drive by slowly and look at every car's stickers when they're in danger of not making their monthly quota of tickets). Damned ticket cost me over $100. I got my car inspected the next day.

Okay, I got the registration taken care of (the DMV is SO much better the past few years than the half-day event it used to be!). I told them for the past 2 years I haven't gotten any mail from them. They discovered that my plates had been "pulled" or something, apparently from a typo elsewhere in the state, and they weren't active. Great! The resident cop at the DMV said he got a ticket in the mail from Newark because of a typo. Maybe I'll try that excuse if I get pulled over. ...but I'm all good now. Just gotta try and get inspected before a cop shoves a ticket up my wazoo.

Here in Valpo we have to get emissions testing every 2 years on older model cars. I assume it's something similar to that, TIS. In Ohio some counties have the emissions test. Where I live you don't have to. When we lived in VA we had to get a safety inspection every year.
