I heard that they have made an arrest.

I use to work retail on those Black Fridays. Talking about a pain in the ass. I worked in a plus size woman's clothing store. These customers would come in and wreak havoc in the store. I seriously wanted to punch some of these ladies in the face. Some people you just can't please no matter how hard you try.

BTW it is WRONG for Kmart to be open on Thanksgiving day so people can shop. God forbid they let the employees stay home with their familes. mad

And thanks to my Father-in-law me the Col and my son are all sick now.

God forbid people (shoppers) should stay home with families or friends for one day.

I agree that some of these stores could close for a holiday, but Walmart/K-mart are not the only places that stay open. My son-in-law is store manager of Ralph's grocery store. They were open all day on Thanksgiving (closing two hours earlier in the evening than usual). He had to go check on things in the morning and said it was quite busy that early. I imagine it died down later in the day.

My point is, I guess, money talks. Let's face it, that's the bottom line for these places. As long as people spend money on holidays, these stores are going to stay open and workers will have to work (unfortunately). ohwell I've been lucky never having a job where I ever had to work weekends, let alone a holiday.

I actually went to a supermarket and K-Mart on Thanksgiving morning with my daughter. Neither was too crowded. My family was at my mother-in-law's, and I had to pick up orange juice, cough drops and something else. At K-Mart I had to buy a basketball because the one my kids kept there was damaged.

Also, Mig, I'm trying to shake a nagging cold this past week too.

lol

My mother-in-law cooked a Butterball, and those turkeys are always so plump and moist.

I'm finally starting to feel better, but I've kept Halls' and Luden's in business. Do they still make Smith Brothers cough drops?

Let's face it. Times have changed. Remember when if you hadn't gassed up and bought your food for the holiday, you were out of luck. Everything closed down. Where I live, I appreciate that the streets are just about empty. In fact, I will drive around on a holiday just for the sheer pleasure of not having any traffic to deal with. That's one thing that hasn't changed.

Watch who you're calling a plump turkey. lol

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving Kly.

I remember Smith Bros. cough drops. As far as I know they still make them.

Here you go, Klyd!! Smith Bros.

The websites that sell them seem to be candy stores. I went on cvs.com, but they went straight from Ricola to Sucrets, no Smith.

I remember Smith Brother's. They were great. Now I use Halls honey and lemon flavor.
