My dear friend, How very, very sad for all of you. And what a horrible shock! As you said, it is every parent's nightmare to bury a child. I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and I wish there was some magic wand I could wave that would help.

I know how much your family means to you. As you try to be strong for them, remember to keep your children close to you. They will bring you enormous comfort in the days and months ahead. Give them a squeeze every now and then and remember how very fleeting life is.

Cherish every day and never pass by the opportunity to tell someone you love them. Paul sounds like he was a dedicated, loving and brilliant man. You were blessed to have him for the time you did.

Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts.

I am so very sorry to hear this horrible news. To a great degree, I have a sense of what you are going through. I came close to losing my brother (who ironically is named Paul too) just last March when he had a sudden stroke (he was only 51). No one thought he'd make it. I was fortunate and he survived and is doing well. I saw my parents pain daily as we all stood vigil at his bedside, simply devastated and heartbroken.

My prayers are with you during your time of grief Kly. My sympathy to you and your family. Take care!

My mind has been flooded by memories from childhood tonight. It's amazing what you can recall when you have to.

In my family at Thanksgiving we pick names to see whom we'll be buying for for Christmas. I picked Paul's name, and it haunts me that I bought a gift for him yesterday, not knowing that he was dead.

Klyd, So sorry to hear about this awful news. I lost my one of my best friends last year to cancer. He was only 22 and he was just like a blood brother. We grew up together and I would have died for him.

It's horrible and painful, But you have a family you can confide in and be with. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Oh my God, Klyd; I'm so sorry. I actually thought I was reading the post of a much older board member until I double checked. Needless to say, your brother, as well as your entire family, are in my prayers today.

I suppose most of you have already seen the news coverage of President Bush getting shoes thrown at him.

I love the way he popped right up and even had a smirk on his face (as if to be having fun).

Makes me wonder what some other recent presidents would have done:

Ronald Reagan would have just stood there, got hit in the head, and not known the difference.

Gerald Ford would have fallen down while ducking from the attacker.

Clinton would have yelped in pain (because as he ducked away, his "member" would still have been in Monica Lewinsky's mouth - she was secreted under the podium).

LBJ would have taken off his own boot and thrown it back at the attacker.

He managed to sound positive, that's remarkable.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. They have been a comfort. We're not sure of the cause of my brother's death yet. About a week ago, he and my dad went on a hike along the mountains and valleys along the Delaware River between northern PA and Jersey.

I'm a little late getting to the shoe throwing incident at Bush, but I was impressed how he eluded the throws at close range. He even looked good and dignified doing it as though he were in a Matrix movie.
